Crestwood Cruises in Win over Berwick

Tagged under: District 2, Gameday Hub, News, Playoffs

| November 12, 2022

As Rain poured down on the Crestwood Stadium on Friday, both teams had to pivot and play on Saturday afternoon. The big question, what team was able to preserve with the time change and continue with business as usual, today it was Crestwood.

The Comets make their motive clear, run the ball and run the ball, and run the ball some more. After all, Crestwood was averaging just 5.6 passes per game. The load is carried heavily by their dynamic duo in the backfield, Noah Schultz and Jaden Shedlock. The first of the Bunch, Noah Schultz came into today 160 yards short of a milestone of 2000 rush yards, Schultz was able to accomplish that significant milestone. Schultz also captured the single season rushing TDs record for Crestwood last week. This week he added to that total with a handful of TDs, call it 5 on the day. The 2nd of the pair, Jaden Shedlock, showed off his speed for a long score today, Shedlock eclipsed over 1000 yards on the year.

Entering today for Berwick, their offense is lead by Drey Wilk and Spencer Kishabugh. Today, Wilk found the Endzone for the last time of his career, so did Kishbaugh. Berwick’s Matthew Lonczynski came into the day looking to get to 1500 pass yards on the year, he was able to eclipse that mark today.

What makes the playoffs so great, is the uncertainty. Both teams know walking out onto the field that it could be the last time they walk out onto the field. Some may be done for the season, others done for their careers. This stood true for the Bulldogs today.

So the stage is set, and the stakes are high. A drip to the District 2 4A title game is on the line, There is no doubt the comets are big time favorites, but can the Bulldogs pull of an upset and Advance to the Title game for the first time since 2017? Or will it be the Comets making it back for the second time in three years?

Jaden Shedlock got the game’s scoring underway as he took a 51 yard scamper to the house. The 0-0 score at the start would be the closest Berwick would ever get to being in the lead.

Crestwood wants to rely on one particular player to carry them to wins, he goes by Noah Schultz. His presence was felt immensely today. His first terrorization of the Berwick defense came on this 9 yard TD run.

The Comets of Crestwood were electric in their first matchup against Berwick, as they scored 56 points back in week 9. They scored a similar amount of points today. Like back in week 9, Noah Schultz was a problem, once he took this carry 60 yards, it was 21-0 with just 8 minutes left in the opening quarter.

With just 15 seconds left in the opening quarter, Matthew Lonczynski found Drey Wilk for the score. As the first quarter buzzer sounded, it was 21-7 Crestwood.

As Expected, Noah Schultz was scoring at ease, this score to make it 42-7 was his 4th on the day.

At the Half, it was 49-7 Crestwood over Berwick. After some scores in garbage time, the final buzzer sounded and the scoreboard read Crestwood 56, Berwick 14. The Bulldogs season comes to an end, and the Crestwood season lives on another week.

For Berwick, these Seniors played their last season of High School Football this year:

Spencer Kishabugh, Drey Wilk, Trystan English, Alex Hacker, Matthew Lonczynski, Rowan Slabinski, Kaden Hunter and Carmine Martz. Good luck to all of these guys as they tackle the next chapter after High School Football.

Junior Ethan Lear will be next in line to start for the Bulldogs at the Quarterback position.  He got some action on the ground today and his future is promising. Upcoming Junior Bo Sheptock will take on the jack of all trades role next year, as he will be the main offensive and defensive weapon.

Crestwood lives on, for now. The comets will be home Friday night as they host the winner of Valley View and Dallas in the District 2 4A title game.

So that does it for me in my rookie season here at PFN, soon enough it will be august and we will back watching High School football. But for now, keep tuned into PaFootballNews for the teams that are still playing.
