Nanticoke 35 Carbondale 0

Zach Fox rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans went to 1-0 on the season. Eugene Gyle and Triston Allen each added rushing touchdowns for Nanticoke. Ethan Brewen rushed for 47 yards for the Chargers.

Hazleton Area 35 Pittston Area 7

Brady Mizenko rushed for 240 yards and a touchdown as the Cougars took the home victory. Austin Wilson threw two touchdown passes. For the Patriots, Drew DeLucca threw for 148 yards and a touchdown pass to Cieran Bilbow. Lucas Lopresto had five catches for 78 yards.

Valley West 21 North Pocono 13

Isaiah Cobb rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns as the Spartans got their first win since 2021 with a win in front of the home crowd. Tyler Mattis returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a score. Trojans quarterback Noah West threw for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown and an interception on defense.

Riverside 47 West Scranton 39

RB Reese Gaughan rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 107 yards and a touchdown as the Vikings won in a shootout at Scranton Memorial Stadium. Gaughan also added a touchdown pass. For the Invaders, wideout Taron Knight Guerrier had three receptions for 220 yards and three touchdowns.

Scranton 35 Wilkes-Barre Area 27

Chris Chandler and Elijah Ortiz each returned an interception for a touchdown in the second half as the Knights overcame a 27 point second quarter to get the win on the road. For the Wolfpack, Davon Underwood returned a punt 66 yards for a touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass. Quarterback Jake Howe threw three touchdown passes.

Western Wayne 35 Lake-Lehman 13

Josh Vinton rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns as the Wildcats took a road victory at Lake-Lehman. Quarterback Frankie Leyshon added a rushing touchdown. For the Black Knights, Hayden Evans threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Wideout Chris Sholtis had 10 catches for 201 yards and two scores.

Southern Columbia 50 Berwick 0

Garrett Garcia rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers pitched a shutout in their 2023 season opener. Carter Madden also added two rushing touchdowns. For the Bulldogs, running back Tyler Winter rushed for 82 yards.

Wallenpaupack 23 Honesdale 6

Dylan Podrazil rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns as the Buckhorns took the opening night victory. Jake Holbert had seven catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. For the Hornets, Cameron Hedgelon had four catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Aiden Collins threw for 165 yards and a score.

Dallas 31 Abington Heights 28

Brady Zapoticky threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns and Dylan Geskey rushed for 187 yards as the Mountaineers took the road victory. For the Comets, wideout Mason Fedor had eight catches for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Nick Bradley threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 98 yards.

Dunmore 35 Old Forge 12

Domenic DeSanto rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown and also added four catches for 63 yards as the Bucks took the victory. Quarterback Thomas Bowen threw a touchdown pass and also added a rushing touchdown. For the Blue Devils, Joe Granko returned a fumble 45 yards for a score.

Lackawanna Trail 35 Mid Valley 13

Lukas Gumble rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown as the defending District 2 Single-A Champion Lions took the road victory at Mid Valley. Stephen Jervis had two rushing touchdowns for Lackawanna Trail. Jakob Lesher rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown for the Spartans.

Selinsgrove 28 Delaware Valley 21

Running Back Tucker Teats rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns and Mark Pastore threw a touchdown pass to Caleb Hicks as the Seals got the victory in the home opener. For the Warriors, Ryder Machado rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Logan Olsommer threw for 159 yards.

Wyoming Area 49 Tunkhannock 0

Aaron Crossley rushed for 192 yards and four touchdowns and quarterback Anthony DeLucca added a rushing touchdown as the Warriors went to 1-0 on the road. For the Tigers, David Hoff added 20 rushing yards.

Valley View 21 Crestwood 14

Casey Malsberger found Chris Savkov in the end zone with 1:19 left to break a 14-14 tie to give the Cougars a season opening victory a home. Zach Cwalinski had two rushing touchdowns and Camryn Higgins rushed for 107 yards. For the Comets, Jaden Shedlock rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown. Matt Sklarosky returned a blocked field goal 62 yards as time expired in the first half.

Susquehanna 49 Holy Redeemer 0

Nathan Oropallo rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown and returned two interceptions for touchdowns as the Sabers took a victory at home. Four different players recorded rushing touchdowns for Susquehanna. For the Royals, Ryan Garvin rushed for 11 yards.

Hanover Area 51 Holy Cross 20

Jayden Skipalis rushed for 125 yards and four touchdowns as the Hawkeyes took a Saturday afternoon victory at Holy Cross. Deacon Eisenbach caught a touchdown pass for Hanover Area. Crusaders quarterback Joshua Lentkowski threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

Scranton Prep 70 Lakeland 7

Quinten Palermo rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown as the Cavaliers went to 1-0 with a Saturday afternoon victory at Dunmore Memorial Stadium. Louis Paris threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns. Liam Barrett had three catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Ponce scored the lone touchdown for the Chiefs.
