London Montgomery turning football games into track meets.
Scranton Prep running back London Montgomery proved to be too much for the Buckhorns Friday night. He rushed for 297 yards and 4 touchdowns and led his team to a 42-10 victory over the previously undefeated Wallenpaupack Buckhorns. What appeared to be an evenly matched game in the first couple minutes of the quarter was quickly dismissed by the Scranton Prep Junior. Prep got the opening kickoff but was unable to sustain the drive and a tenacious Buckhorn defense forced them to punt. The Buckhorns offense went to work on their first drive. They moved the ball in a fashion that was encouraging, pushing the Prep defense back to their own 40. The Caviler’s defense would prevail, stopping the Buckhorns on fourth and two with 5.59 left in the second first quarter. From this point on, it was all Prep. It was all Montgomery.
Prep began smash-mouth football with Montgomery as he both plowed and finessed his way downfield before he eventually ran it in from 7 yards out, making it 7-0 Prep. The route began, to the dismay of hometown fans.

Paupack got the kickoff and immediately went three and out, putting the ball back in the hands of the Montgomery machine who immediately went to work ripping the horns out of the Buckhorns. Two minutes later Montgomery was in familiar territory, the Wallenpaupack red zone, and just 2 plays later he ran it in from 24 yards out with 41 seconds left in the quarter making it 14-0 Prep. The first quarter came to a close with the Cavilers up 14-0.

Before Wallenpaupack Head Coach Mark Watson could congratulate his team he had other things to worry about. On the ensuing kickoff, Montgomery recovered his own fumble and ran in back 98 yards for the touchdown, and with 11.35 left in the quarter, it was back to a two-score game 21-17.

Prep would stop Wallenpaupack again on fourth down, and regained possession. A long grueling 6-minute drive that ended with a 2-yard touchdown run by London Montgomery, making the score 28-7 Prep. Wallenpaupack would put together a solid drive late in the quarter that ended in 3 points when one of the countries top kickers Roman Levent would boot a 42-yard field goal giving the Buckhorns a little bit of hope. That hope was soon squashed when just 3 plays later, Montgomery would run 80 yards for another Prep score. The Cavilers had a convincing lead going into the second-half 35-10.
