Williamsport came into their game with with Berwick sporting a 2-0record, and left the game of the 3-0 record and a whole lot more swagger. Coach Chuck Crews is happy with what he sees in his team this year and says that “everyone being happy for everyone on the sidelines when a good players made is what winning teams are all about.” The excitement is back in Williamsport and on the sidelines. The millionaires took advantage of several Berwick mistakes and and nearly 130 yards in penalties on their way to a 26 – 3 win STA stadium.

The Millionaires took the opening kick and marched 62 yards to go up 7-0 on a 6 yard pass from Frankie Marrone to tight end Nassir Jones. The drive received some help when a Berwick player ran into the Willliamsport punter and personal foul by Berwick.

Williamsport increased their lead to 10-0 in the first quarter on a 26 yard field goal from kicker Elliott Wannop. On the ensuing drive, Berwick got it’s only score when Mason Laubach burst through the left side of the line and raced 47 yards. The kick failed leaving the score Williamsport 10 Berwick 6 at the 9:02 mark of the second quarter. Laubach was ejected later in the game after his second personal foul penalty. “That’s on me. I’m in charge of this program” said Berwick Head Coach Carm Defrancesco. “I was ashamed of the lack of discipline here and I’m gonna get that thing straitened out.”

The Millionaires turned another Berwick mistake into 7 points. After recovering a fumble at the 40, Marrone found wide receiver Cam Sims from 16 yards out putting Williamsport up 17-6 heading into halftime. “They didn’t want to make those mistakes, we had something to do with them” said Crews. “By no means are we a good team, we were just a better team tonight. We want to continue working to be the best team we can be.”  Opening the second half with the ball, Berwick got a little spark when a fake punt gave them a first down inside Millionaire territory but the wheels came off again when Laubach fumbled and was ejected on the play.

The Dawgs held but missed a 22 yard field goal. Williamsport scored on their next possession with another td pass from Marrone to Sims, this one from 19 yards out. The drive was aided by a big 38 scamper by Keith Freeman.

Wannop capped the scoring with a 30 yard field goal. “It’s good to be part of a team and it’s good to be a part of a team that can play” said Crews of the two td performance by Sims.” Tight end Nassir Jones was proud of the discipline his team had. “It feels real good to be a part of a team that’s 3-0.

Berwick will look to rebound when they face Wyoming Valley West while the Millionaires host Wilkes-Barre.
