Special Team Starters Returning
So. Mason Yohn kicker/punter

What does your offense need to improve on from last year?
Several returning lineman highlight a bright spot for a team that lost only 7 seniors from 2019.  Returning starters Hunter Hertzog, Hunter Fitterling, Nick Fekete, Josh Ford and TEs Aidan Sherman along with Joe Kostelac will lead the offensive line. Also returning is dual threat QB Jordan Heisey.  Tyler Weary and Zach Beam return with experience at the wide receiver positions.  Bay Blaschak. A concern is at the offensive wide receiver positions. Continued development of the offensive line which returns most of the starters that opened the way for Kyle Swartz to gain over 2000 yards in 2019 is another concern.

What does your defense need to improve on from last year
Several questions need to be answered in the linebacking area and secondary due to losses to graduation.
Stronger rush defense. Fekete, and Jeff Wright return as defensive starters on the defensive line. Fitterling, returns at inside linebacker and will be joined by Zach Mowchan and Blake Cruz who are both returning from injuries that cost them their junior seasons.  Also returning is sophomore kicker Mason Yohn who had a very successful freshman year kicking in 2019.

Coaches Outlook:

There exist many question marks among the large, but motivated senior class. We are hoping that this class will develop the kind of leadership quality that they have enjoyed in their junior years.  Returning to district play (but early exit) should be a source of motivation for this group to continue the winning tradition of the past and revisited the last 5 seasons.

We are trying to find ways to motivate players to put more dedication into the program.  Continuing to develop a strong running game is always main concern.  The emergence of several underclassmen is seen as a positive.  We will continue to try to develop model citizens as well as good football players through the use of stricter team policies and practices.  Overall, the coaches are excited about this group of returning players in addition to the younger players, and are looking forward to 2020.
