Coach Yonchiuk says “Saxton Suchanic is an excellent cover corner. He has great height 6’3″ and is very quick. Saxton’s size is a great asset as he is able to defend receivers of all sizes. His role will expand this season as Saxton will also be involved in the CY offense this fall. He has received strong interest from many Power 5 programs this off-season as a Cover Corner prospect”.

LET’S GET TO KNOW SAXTON

Why do you play football?

I play football because it gives you feelings that you can’t get anywhere else. Like the feeling of playing in front of the crowd and your classmates on a Friday night, and the feeling of being with your brothers on and off the field. Football is the ultimate team sport and there is nothing like it.

It’s gameday! What are you looking forward to the most?

I’m looking forward to winning. I’m also looking forward to playing in front of my family, friends, and classmates as well as having a good time on the field with my teammates.

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

My favorite sports star is Lebron James because he is a perfect role model for an athlete, and I have been watching him since I was little.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most? Explain:

My favorite play is week 3 of last season when I had a 90 yard pick six against Hempfield. The energy in the stadium was crazy, my teammates were hyping me up, and it was an all around great feeling.

What was last years season like for you?

The 2022 season was a ride for me. It was my first season on varsity so I was trying to ball out and turn a few heads. It was the most fun I had playing football, and it was on the biggest stage I’ve played on so far. I’m grateful for the opportunity I had, and the memories I made.

What are your goals for this coming season?

The main goals are to win a state championship and a district championship. Another goal for me is to make the all-state team.

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

Kenny Johnson from Dallastown.

What stadium, HS/college/pro would you love to visit for a game?

I would love to visit the Rose Bowl Stadium.

What is your favorite Pro team, any sport?

My favorite NFL team is the Chicago Bears.

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why?

My favorite game I’ve watched was the 2018 national championship game because it was an exciting game that went down to the wire and ended with an exciting finish.

What sports movie would you watch every day if you had to pick one and why?

I would watch the Creed movies because I really like the storyline, and all 3 movies are entertaining.

If your mom and dad are screaming at you from the stands, what is it they usually yell?

My dad doesn’t really yell much, but my mom yells all the time. She’ll say things like “let’s go boys” “let’s go central” “get it together” and sometimes she’ll just scream. I can even pick out her voice in the crowd sometimes.

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen?

One thing I’d love to do is score a game winning touchdown in the final seconds of a championship game.

Who is your mentor, the person you want to be like? WHY?

My mentor is my mom. She drives me in everything I do, and she keeps me on track with football and life. She has always shown me the right way to do things and the type of person I should be.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:

Baseball

What is your most embarrassing sports moment?

My most embarrassing sports moment is when I caught a pick against Red Lion and I had a clear path to the endzone but I got hawked and fumbled on the 1 yard line.

Is there anyone in your family, besides your parents, you could consider your biggest fan? Who, Why?

My little brother and my little sister. They come to all my games.

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

I like to play a lot of video games. I don’t have a reason why it’s just something I like to do.

What is your favorite football memory to date?

My favorite memory is going to team camp and spending 3 days with my teammates. We made some great memories there.

What is your favorite play to run?

When I’m on defense, I like to run anything man coverage. On offense, anything that has me going deep.

What scares you the most?

What scares me the most is not reaching my potential or not feeling like I did everything I could to reach it.

Music of choice:

Rap music (Lil Baby, Ot7 Quanny, Lil Durk, Gunna, Meek Mill, Polo G) those are my favorite rappers to listen to.

What was your favorite gift as a little boy? Why?

My favorite gift was my little tikes basketball hoop because I had always loved sports and it was the first sports toy I had.

Chick Fil A, is my go to restaurant. Nothing is better than their chicken sandwiches.

What is your favorite vacation destination?

I like going. to Myrtle Beach with my family.

Do you remember what the first football game you saw was?

I don’t remember specifically what the first football game I watched was, but I know I always watched football every weekend with my dad for as long as I can remember.
