Wilson High School kicked off the season in explosive fashion, powering past Governor Mifflin for a 48-7 victory before the game was cut short midway through the third quarter. The electric away crowd went wild on every single score as Justice Hardy broke loose for 104 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on just 6 carries, while Cole Peterson finished a near-flawless 13-for-14 with 193 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.
On defense, E.J. Brownback blew up plays all night with 7 solo tackles and 5 tackles for a loss, while Jaydin Vasquez blew the roof off the stadium with a thrilling 25-yard pick-six. Their unrelenting pressure completely suffocated Governor Mifflin, leaving the visiting team unable to put up any standout stats.
It was a tough overall outing for Governor Mifflin, as Wilson proved they are far too much to handle. With dominant performances on both sides of the ball and an energized crowd behind them, Wilson establishes itself as a serious force right out of the gate.
