The Carlisle Thundering Herd came into Mechanicsburg riding a six-game winning streak. A streak the Wildcats were determined to break. But capitalizing on big plays and turnovers, Carlisle returned home with their seventh straight victory.
The Herd behind junior quarterback Louis Shank (6/9 104yds, 3 TDs) converted on two of three Mechanicsburg interceptions deep in Wildcat territory and Kareem Lawson added an 82-yd kickoff return to put the game out of reach.
Mechanicsburg after gaining only 39 total yards in the first half, made a game of it in the early part of the 4th behind the legs of sophomore quarterback Jeff Lougee (11 carries, 107 yds, 2 TDs), scoring on an 8-yd touchdown run to bring the Wildcats within five, 19-14. But on the ensuing kickoff, Lawson raced down the visiting sideline, and after a successful 2-pt conversion, put the Herd up for good 27-14.
JC Smith and Ezeekai Thomas added 124 yards on the ground for Carlisle. Josh Zipperer, Eli Hargrove and Jeremiah Snyder had touchdown receptions.
Parker Sample and Sage Thomas ran for a combined 105 yards for Mechanicsburg.
