West Catholic (4-7) v Trinity (8-4)

Don’t let the records fool you. Both of these teams are battle tested. The Shamrocks have four losses, however, those four losses came at the hands of three top ranked teams from larger classifications and one team that’s ranked #1. Roman Catholic, Wyomissing, West Perry (all handed the Shamrocks losses early in the season) and Steelton-Highspire (overtime loss). All four teams are still in the playoffs. Trinity head coach Jordan Hill said he scheduled those larger teams early in the season so his team could see what top competition looks like. It seems to have paid off as the Shamrocks have scored over 50 points in each of their last 3 games.

They’re led by a somewhat balanced offense. Junior quarterback Caleb Wray has thrown for 965 yards and 11 tds. Leading receiver Cole Cappawana and Tanie Young have hauled in over 500 yards. On the ground is where their strength lies. Messiah Mickens, Max Schlager and Christian Joy have combined for over 2,200 yards and 32 trips to the endzone.

Defensively Trinity will look to Schlager at the linebacker spot who leads the team in tackles. Jacob Ness and Tucker Paynter are also among the team leaders. Ness has 7 tackles for loss from his linebacker spot.

Trinity can score from all over the field and their defense has been playing very well but they’ll need to play better against the Burrs.

West Catholic, led by head coach Brian Wood, have also played a schedule loaded with larger teams, including Roman, Neumann-Goretti and Lansdale Catholic, all playoff teams that handed the Burrs their losses.

The Burrs will need to get their offense going early to have a chance at the win. Kal-El Durham has thrown for nearly 700 yards. Owen Suah and Kahir Thompson are his main targets.

For their ground game, K’Saan Greene is the lead rusher with over 800 yards. Look for Jiare Greene to get his share of carries as well. He’s run for nearly 500 yards this season.

Defensively Owen Suah is a player the Burrs count on. His 6 interceptions lead the team. The Burrs are a tackle by committee team led by Semaj Williams, Jayzen Flint, Greene and Jayvon Story.

This game doesn’t look as good on paper as it might be on the field.
