Coastal Carolina has found the Keystone State. Head Coach Jamey Chadwell and staff have extended several offers to recruits in Pennsylvania in the last couple years, and for the first time since landing Downingtown West punter/kicker Massimo Biscardi in 2018, the Chanticleer’s  efforts have paid off.  Gettysburg lineman Frankie Richardson was ready to ride the wave and this past Thursday surf was up. The 6-5, 285 pound offensive tackle announced on twitter that he was committing to the Coastal program:

For those unfamiliar with the Chanticleer program, they fielded their first program 2003. They belong to the Sun Belt conference and played their first FBS game in 2017. Ironically, Chanticleer is also the name of a Botanical Garden in Wayne, PA. A Chanticleer is a proud and fierce rooster who dominates the barnyard, the character comes from the Nun’s Priest Tale, a story within Canterbury Tales. But enough about the history of the mascot, let’s move on and find out why Richardson made his choice:

PFN: Who was your biggest influence at Coastal, who recruited you? 
The Offensive Line Coach Bill Durkin

PFN: What are they getting in player like you? 
A hard worker, a great student, a great teammate and an athletic big man that loves the game of football

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?
In the beginning it’s exciting and then it gets exhausting and stressful but it’s been a great experience and I’ve met a lot of great people.

PFN: What was your reason for committing early? 
It just felt right. They have my major, they made me feel like family when I was on my official visit and it’s an up and coming program that I want to be a part of

PFN: What position were you recruited for? 
Offensive Tackle

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study? 
Marine Biology

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision? 
They gave me every opportunity to explore my choices and supported me throughout the entire process

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the Coastal program?
The family feel, the brotherhood and the culture that Coach Chadwell has brought to the program

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for the Chanticleers? 
Playing big time football for some great Coaches

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:
I’m afraid of bugs

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career? 
My cousin Forrest

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?
Nothing, honestly I would tell them anything in person
