Tonight the school board at Donegal has hired Tony Sottasante to lead the team this year. Tony has a long coaching history stretching back to 1993. This is a special job for Sottasante, he played football and graduated from the school.  “It’s just a tremendous opportunity” said Anthony of being hired by the school he played for. “Anytime you get a chance to coach at your alma mater, it’s just incredible. This has been a dream of mine. I mean, I played there now I get to coach the team.

Tony leaves behind a Mt. Union team that seems to be on the right track, leading them to their best season since 2015. “It was difficult to leave. To be honest, this is the only place I would leave for” said Tony of how difficult it was to leave the Trojans. “I think that program is on the right track.

Tony has had coaching stints with Donegal, Thaddeus Stevens, York Suburban, Columbia and Tussey Mountain.

“An opportunity like this comes around once in the lifetime. I think I’m like the 7th coach in the history of the program.” Tony hasn’t met the team yet but looks forward to putting the pieces together. He has studied film of the team. “I think there’s some key pieces coming back. We have an opportunity to have a great season. It all depends on what we do in the off season. ”
