Jaheim “Florida” White rushes for four touchdowns as York High tops Dallastown 36-20

York celebrates their victory

In a game with potential division 1 talents on both sidelines, it was the kid they call Florida who stole the show. Jaheim White tallied 261yards on 19 carries with four touchdowns as the York High Bearcats (4-1) make their case in the YAIAA “I told him if he rushed for over 200 yards I would be happy” Head Coach Russell Stoner said. “The greatest part about Florida, its a challenge thing, he wanted to battle Kenny(Dallastown standout Receiver Kenny Johnson) all night”.

White got things started for York on their first possession when he took a hand off on 4th down 44 yards to the house (8-0 York). Dallastown came down on the next drive but Dylan Lease was picked off in the end zone by Terrence Price who returned it up to the 41 yard line. A few plays later “Florida found the corner from the 9 putting the Bearcats up 14-0.

The Wildcats came right back after a big completion from Lease to Kenny Johnson, the Senior Quarterback/Fullback/Linebacker took it in from the 1 (14-6 York Two point try no good). After a couple of three an outs, Lease rumbled in for another keeper tying the game up with just over a minute left in the half (Dallastown went for two on the extra point and converted).

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they left too much time for Florida and company. After the ensuing kickoff White took off from the 35 all the way to the Dallastown 36. Four plays later Junior Quarterback Sam Stoner threaded the needle with a dime to Senior Ajani Cheshire for an 18 yard touchdown pass (22-14 York at the half)

On the first possession of the second half Dallastown attempted a fake punt that was stopped short by York close to midfield. Three plays later White would notch score number 3 this time from the 16 yard line. (30-14 York). The Wildcats would not go quietly, on the ensuing drive they used big catches from Johnson and tough running from Caleb Fox. Fox would finish off the possession pounding his way in from the 1 (30-20 York, Dallastown two point try failed).

Kenny Johnson (8 catches for 192 yards) then made Dallastown’s biggest defensive play of the night when he caused and recovered White’s fumble at the 49 yard line. The next offensive series would see the Bearcats defense come up big with Cornerback Ni’Jir Greer (3 sacks on the evening) sacking Caleb Strauss (who replaced an injured Lease) on 4th down. Jaheim Florida White would put the final dagger in the Wildcats heart with a 40 yard scamper (36-20 York).

Dallastown was able to get down to the 24 with clock running under 4 minutes, when Greer sacked Strauss again, this time he recovered the fumble. Jaheim “Florida” White was understandably exhausted after the game “Nothing would of happened without my line, quarterback we all worked as a team” Florida said “We came to practice worked hard, we played as a team and it showed tonight”.

York will return home next week to face Red Lion and best believe Coach Russell Stoner feels his squad deserves more respect “We need to be talked about being ranked in the state of Pennsylvania” Stoner said “Its disrespectful, I don’t know what more York High has to do to get the recognition we deserve”. Dallastown (4-2) will travel to Dover, looking to get back on the winning track after their four game streak came to a halt.
