Jack Kenneff is a stud shortstop and a pretty good pitcher for the Manheim Township Blue Streaks. Until recently, he was committed to play baseball for Quinnipiac University. He is also a pretty good quarterback. So good that he was selected to play in the PSFCA Big 33 All Star Classic that was played in May. This past fall (2025) he earned the job as the starting quarterback for the Blue Streaks. The love he found for that position made him reconsider everything as far as college athletics.
In January he decided he’d like to play football in college, but, he was way behind that ball due to the fact that he concentrated on baseball recruiting. So, in order to “catch up” on football after only starting for one year Jack decided to reclassify to the class of 2027 and will play for the Hill School. He did receive offers from Sacred Heart and Maine, but it was the Maine program that won out. The reason for the reclass is also that the schools offer is for a class of 27 commitment, likely due to the fact that they filled their class of 2026.
Jack also has a bit of history on his side. He’ll be the first player in Big 33 history to return to a high school instead of heading straight to college.
We asked Jack what all went into his decision. Here are the highlights of that conversation:
PFN: Why did you choose to commit to Maine?
It is a full scholarship offer to play both football and baseball. When I visited it just clicked. The coaches are awesome, and the facilities are great.
PFN: Who was your biggest influence there, who recruited you?
Coach Waters – QB coach. Really enjoyed chatting and spending time with him.
PFN: What are they getting in player like you?
A tough hard-nosed leader that is willing to do whatever it takes to win and will never stop working to achieve that.
PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?
Kind of crazy. Decommitted from Quinnipiac University to play division 1 baseball after my football season. I wanted to play both at the next level. Then reclassed and picked up the Maine offer and worked the baseball angle, and the coaches were both willing enough to let me do it!
PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?
Business
PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?
My dad played a huge role. We talked constantly every single day about what I should be doing, and how much certain things mean to me. He took me wherever it was I needed to be to put me in the best place to get recruited, without ever batting an eye! He has been by my side every step of the way, and has pushed me to be the man I am today
PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?
I think the most exciting thing about the program is the coaching staff. They are all on the same page, and absolutely love their job. They eat, sleep, live football.
PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?
The brotherhood. I’m excited to meet a whole new group of guys, and be able to bond over winning football AND baseball games!
