#2 Rhyan Day breaks up a pass in the endzone intended for #27 Caleb Brubaker.

The Waynesboro Indians traveled to Mechanicsburg’s John H. Frederick Field to take on the undefeated Wildcats in a Mid-Penn Colonial division match-up of teams with District 3 5A playoff hopes in the balance.  Mechanicsburg, behind another stellar performance by dual-threat quarterback Micah Brubaker, prevailed 35-7.

Brubaker (12/18 passing for 207 yards) scored twice on the ground and threw two touchdown passes to Senior Wide Receiver Nicholas Morrison and Senior Running Back Taylor Shearer to pace the Wildcats.

After a quick possession by each team, Mechanicsburg got on the board with at 31-yd touchdown pass from Brubaker to Shearer.  Brubaker then scored on a run from 4-yds out to put Mechanicsburg up 14-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Two plays after Waynesboro got a first down on a fake punt, James Anderson picked off a pass by Waynesboro QB Chance Eyler (10/21 passing for 77 yards) and returned it 31 yards for the Mechanicsburg touchdown to send the teams to their locker rooms with the Wildcats up 21-0 at the break.

After a 3-and-out on Waynesboro’s first possession of the second half, Mechanicsburg drove down field, culminating in a 29-yd pass from Brubaker to WR Morrison to put the Cats up 28-0.  Brubaker then ran in a 6-yd touchdown run on Mechanicsburg’s next possession to make the score 35-0, and start the running clock for the fourth game in a row.

Waynesboro scored in the 4th on a 13-yd touchdown pass from Eyler to RB Devin Farrar to make the final score Mechanicsburg 35 – Waynesboro 7.
