Mechanicsburg Moves to 6-0 in Mid-Penn Colonial, Rips East Pennsboro 43-20 @GoMechanicsburg @EP_Panthers

#11 Micah Brubaker scores a two-point conversion in Mechancisburg’s 43-20 win over East Pennsboro.

Mechanicsburg QB Micah Brubaker can add another 5 touchdowns to his season total.  Brubaker ended the game 18-for-23 for 243 yards and 4 touchdown passes.  He added another 91 yards on the ground, with a 40-yd touchdown run.  Junior WR Rashawn Holton paced the Wildcats with 4 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.  Senior WR Nicholas Morrison added another 5 catches and two touchdowns.   Taylor Shearer had 72 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown for the Wildcats.

East Pennsboro rushed for 290 yards against the Wildcats on 54 carries. Senior RB Jacob Shermeyer ran for 103 yards on 19 carries for the Panthers.  Devin Shepard added 85 yards on the ground and Sy Burgos counted for another 79.  There was no air game for the Panthers, as QB Zach Zeiders ended the game 2 for 4 for -4 yards passing and two interceptions.

Mechanicsburg played early on a short field, returning the opening kickoff deep into Panther territory.  Brubaker found Morrison on the third play from scrimmage for a 13-yd touchdown pass.  Seven minutes later, the pair reconnected for a 16-yd touchdown, making the score 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

Later in the first, Brubaker found Jr WR Daniel Francis for a 3 yard strike.  After a missed extra point, the period ended 20-0.

East Penn would strike first in the second quarter on a 5-yard blast from Shermeyer, making it 20-7 Mechanicsburg.

Nicholas Morrison would tack on a 41-yd field goal at the end of the half to put Mechanicsburg up 23-7.

East Penn took the 2nd half kickoff out near midfield, but couldn’t move the ball.  Zeiders fumbled a snap and was tackled for a 13-yard loss. Mechanicsburg capitalized a few plays later on a 40-yd sprint by Brubaker, putting the Wildcats up 30-7.

East Penn would score next on a 34-yd touchdown run by Shepard, making the score 30-14.

Mechanicsburg would add two more scores in the third – a 12-yd touchdown run by Shearer and a 52-yd pitch and catch from Brubaker to Holton rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats.

East Penn would add a score in the 4th to make the final 43-20.
