NEW OXFORD, PA – New Oxford defeated York Suburban 41-6 in a YAIAA Division 2 matchup on Friday night.
York Suburban ended their first drive almost as soon as it started, letting the Colonials of New Oxford capitalize. The first score of the game came at 9:18, when Carter Houck threw to Ryan Vargas, who ran it 56 yards for a touchdown, putting them up 7-0. On the Trojans’ next drive, Everett Heim fumbled the ball to New Oxford, putting them in position to score, again. Then, Clayton Nieves got his first touchdown off a 1-yard rushing play to put them up 14-0 with a lot of time left. 2 minutes later, Clayton Nieves would run it 15 yards for his second touchdown of the night. The 2-point conversion wasn’t good, so the first quarter ended 20-0.
The Trojans would find some success in the second quarter, and Everett Heim ran it back 34 yards off a pass from Rylan Bratton to put the Trojan’s on the scoreboard. They went for a 2-point conversion but did not succeed, making it 20-6. 8 minutes later, Carter Houck got his first rushing touchdown to make it 27-6 at the half.
In the first play out of the halftime, Clayton Nieves ran it 70 yards for his third touchdown of the game, putting the Colonials up 34-6. York Suburban was not able to hold back the energy that New Oxford had coming out of the half, which lead to Carter Houck’s second rushing touchdown of the night to make it 41-6.
Once they scored that last touchdown, New Oxford took their starters out and were still able to hold back York Suburban. The score remained 41-6. With the win, New Oxford advances to 5-0 and will travel to Susquehannock next Friday, while York Suburban falls to 0-5 and will host Dover in the Trojan’s homecoming game next Friday.
