The Susquehanna Township Indians have advanced to 8-1, after shocking the previously 7-1 Trinity Shamrocks in double overtime. Both Overtime touchdowns were rushes by QB Torin Evans, with the game winner being scored on fourth and four. This victory felt even more shocking to the Indians, as they found themselves losing for a large portion of the game, even being behind 19-7 at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Majority of Trinity’s success came from senior RB/DB Christian Joy. Who scored 4 rushing touchdowns for over 150 yards, and also grabbed an interception on defense. Two of these touchdowns came in the most crucial moments, as he ran one in for 73 yards to put the Shamrocks up 27-20 late in the fourth quarter, and scored his fourth touchdown in Overtime to once again gain the lead over Susquehanna.

However, the Indians offense led by QB Torin Evans came out victorious. Evans finished the game with three passing touchdowns to receivers Lex Cyrus, Josh Nengite, and James Colston. Colston’s was scored with just 20 seconds left in the game, and brought the Indians to overtime at 27-27. After regulation ended, Evans scored a rushing touchdown in single, and double overtime, and ultimately won the game for the Indians. Running back Rakhi Seville also heavily contributed, as he rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown.

While Susquehanna may have had a flawless end to the game, they were met with many challenges throughout its beginnings. In just the first half the Indians had three turnovers, with two of them resulting in touchdowns for the Shamrocks. The most notable turnover came from WR Lex Cyrus off of a muffed punt, putting the Shamrocks on their own 12-yard-line. This not only resulted in a lead-changing touchdown by the shamrocks, but it also gave them a possession before halftime, as they would go on to score another touchdown early in the third quarter, and put 13 unanswered points on the board.

The Susquehanna Township Indians, now in first for the division will end their regular season next week at home against the 5-4 Milton Hershey Spartans. The Shamrocks, now in second place will end off against the 3-6 Middletown Blue Raiders on the road.
