October 30, 2020 was the last time Susquehanna Township claimed victory. That ended tonight as Township used a nice combination of pass, run and a smothering defense to pull away from an outmanned Northern Lebanon and get the 37-0 win. “It’s actually 670 days. Discipline on defense was the key” said Hanna Head Coach Joe Headen. “Watching them last week the threw the ball a lot, they have some good weapons. We did what we wanted to do. These kids deserved this.”

Hanna scored on their first three drives of the night to pull out to a quick 21-0 lead in the first quarter. On their first drive they moved the ball 61 yards and capped the drive with a 5 yard td run by Javon White. On Northern Lebanons third play of the game Ryan McClain picked off Grady Stichlers pass at the Vikings 39. It took one play for Township to find the endzone. Torin Evans hit Darrian Brown and he did the rest for the score.

On the very next series, Stichler was again intercepted. Seven plays later Dorian Smith took the ball in from the one and just like that Township was on a roll. “We made some gains between week 1 and week 2, we had some penalties but there’s not smart penalties and there’s aggressive penalties. We made some aggressive penalties tonight that we have to clean up.”

Penalties cost Township a chance at another score on their next drive that ended in a missed 25 yard field goal attempt, but they made up for it later in the second quarter with a 75 yard drive capped by a nice 28 yard run by Siroun TIllman. (ignore the autocorrect please).

Hanna sent the game into the mercy rule with a 72 yard drive. The highlight of that drive was a 59 yard run by Evans and capped by a 15 yard td run from Smith. The scoring ended with a 25 yard field goal by Razzay Bowles.

“Sometimes the ball rolls the other teams way and sometimes tonight it literally did. I still think we found a way to win some battles but ultimately they scored on their first three drives. That’s hard to overcome” said Viking head coach Jason Rice.

Township has a week off due to a forfeit by Middletown before facing Mechanicsburg. Northern Lebanon will look for their first win next week when they host York Tech
