Susquehannock defeated York Suburban 28-7 in a divisional matchup on Friday Night.
Going into the game, York Suburban was 2-4 and was looking to bounce back from a 42-0 loss to Dover last week, while the Warriors were also hoping to get a win after a 14-0 loss to New Oxford.
The first quarter started off slow, and both teams had long drives that did not result in any points. Finally, with 5:12 remaining in the first quarter, Susquehannock’s Michael Fox was able to run the ball into the endzone to put the Warriors up 7-0.
In the second quarter, Susquehannock was able to break away, which started with a diving touchdown from Michael Fox to put them up 14-0 with 10 minutes left in the half. Later in the quarter, Brooks McKnight was able to find the back of the endzone to put them up 21-0 with 3:45 left in the first half. York Suburban would be able to put some points on the board in the first half, with a rushing touchdown from Cj Rissmiller.
The third quarter would see both teams battling for possession, but neither one would be able to score. Susquehannock’s defense had a strong performance with numerous sacks and did not let the Trojans get close to scoring.
The Trojans tried to find a way to come back in the fourth quarter, but they were not able to. To cap off the game, Susky’s Dan Kaliszak recorded a receiving touchdown to put the Warriors up 28-7 and end the night for scoring.
Michael Fox had a very impressive game with 2 touchdowns and was not able to be stopped by Trojan defenders. Susky’s quarterback Josh Pecunes was also able to have a great game both passing and rushing, which was helped by the protection of their offensive line.
The Warriors advance to 3-4 and play Eastern York next Friday, while the Trojans fall to 2-4 and host Kennard-Dale next Friday.
