GETTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT BRAXTYN:

What is the best part of being a student-athlete at Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech High School ?
The best part about being a student-athlete at CMVT is the connection you form with the other players. Going into high school was scary, but going to the summer practices is how I met a lot of new people and going into school for the first time, I saw a lot of familiar faces. That made the first year so much easier.

How long have you been playing football(any level) ?
I’ve played football for 6 years.

Of all the road games you have played, which stadium had the best overall atmosphere, along with what made it so good ?
I would say my favorite away game was against Renaissance Academy Charter School. What made it so awesome was some of the students from their school actually started cheering for me and even wanted me to sign a football of theirs when the game was over. They were also trying to talk to me while I was getting a drink and getting a break. It was such a “hype” experience for me.

If the game is on the line, do you want to be on offense or defense ? Explain:
If the game was on the line, I would definitely want to be on offense. I feel like it’s easier for a game on the line with you having control of the ball, not the opponents. if you score you win but they can’t score, and scoring is easier than defending because all it takes is small steps, a few yards at a time to drill down the field.

As an athlete, what has been your biggest achievement ?
My biggest achievement was probably breaking the previous school record for rushing yards after so many people doubted me. I ended up breaking 5 school records as a Junior. All I had to do was work crazy hard and I did it.

What was the high point of the 2023 season ?
The high point of this past season was when I found out I broke the school rushing yards record, and not even on the last game. I broke it with a few games left in the season.

What are you going to miss the most from the class of 2024 ?
The whole football team is like one big family, so I’m going to miss them being on the team with us. They were all like brothers to the team. However, it’s okay because my class will be the next Seniors, and get to lead all the underclassmen to a good season.

What are your goals for the 2024 season ?
My goal is for our team to get more wins than last year, and my personal goal is to hit 3,000 rushing yards this year. I know it’ll be extremely difficult but I’m going to aim for it.

Who is your favorite sports star and why?
My favorite sports star is someone I just recently learned about, Jared Verse. He just got drafted to the NFL to play for the Rams. What makes him my favorite story is that my story, so far, is scary similar to his. I just read his story in the paper and he played track, basketball, and football, as do I. He was an absolute beast of a defender in basketball but wasn’t good offensively, which the coach taught him to be better. I was an incredible defensive player but, as a first year player in high school, I couldn’t do something as simple as dribble the ball with my left hand, but at the end of my first season l started scoring comfortably with my left hand, so I improved a lot. His senior season he started dunking and dunked on teams a lot off fast breaks, and I just started being able to grab rim at the end of the basketball season. Once I started being able to grab rim, not knowing about Jared Verse yet, I’ve said I’m going to dunk during my senior season. That’s not all either, for football, he shattered his high schools rushing record, as did I. He started playing both ways, offensively and defensively, but that started to take a toll on his body, so he only played defensive when it was necessary for him to be out there. I did the exact same thing, but for me it was effecting my offensive game, so that’s why I started playing less defensive. The only difference between our athletic story’s from what I have read is the teams we’ve played for. Now, we both have a Ram as our mascot. Ultimately, his story shows that with hard work, dedication and the right mindset, you can accomplish your dreams. That is why his is my favorite story.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most ? Explain:
My favorite play involves two of my favorite teammates, Mason Haught and Gannon Earnest. I was playing inside linebacker along with Mason, and Gannon was playing D-line. The other teams running back took the ball to the 5 hole but it got closed off because the outside linebacker crashed in, so that led him to go outside. while he was going to the outside, I was running parallel with him on our side of the line of scrimmage, Mason trailing behind me, and Gannon behind the running back on their side of the line of scrimmage. The running back saw me staying with him and tried to juke me off him but I broke down, wrapped his legs up so he couldn’t go anywhere, then Gannon and Mason both came and knocked him down together.

Who is the best player(s) you have ever lined up against and what team did they play for ?
I would say the best would have to be an entire team when I was a Freshman. I remember getting absolutely destroyed because I was so small and the other team was all huge guys and there was absolutely nothing I could do. I gave my hardest every single kick return every single time I ran full speed at those guys and I remember one time being happy that I made one slow down a little bit. Now that I’m a lot bigger, this past year they seemed like any other team.

What stadium, (HS/College/Pro) would you love to visit for a game ?
I would love to visit any college or pro stadium for a game because, watching football in person is cool, especially people that are better then me and where I want to be in football.

What is your favorite Pro Sports team(any sport) ? Explain:
The Broncos and its a nostalgic reason. The first time I played tackle football, my team was named the Broncos, so I just stuck with it.

What game, yours, college or pro, was your favorite game you watched and why ?
I would have to say one of mine. I like being able to look back and reflect on what I did wrong, so I can improve as a player.

What sports movie could you watch every day if you had to pick one, and why ?
Honestly, I don’t really watch tv. I occasionally watch shows but even then it’s been so long. Since during my leisure time I play video games, I just don’t have time to watch movies or shows anymore.

Name one thing you’d love to do in football that may never happen ?
Play for the Denver Broncos.

Name a sport you’d love to play but can’t:
Lacrosse or Rugby

What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
I would have to say this past basketball season, where I had a completely wide open layup on a fast break, and I bricked the layup. I know everybody has at some point in their basketball career and that was my time to do it, so at least I’m not the only one who has done something like that.

When you aren’t playing, practicing, or training for sports, what is your go to activity, and why ?
Playing video games, because it’s a great way for me to relax.

Which one, Sheetz, Wawa, or Rutters ? Explain:
I would have to go with Sheetz because, I don’t go to any of these choices often, but I do occasionally have a Sheetz milkshake.

What is your favorite vacation destination ?
Ocean City, Maryland

Tell us something that you have a fear of ?
Getting a debilitating injury.

Favorite Fast Food/Burger place and why ?
I do not eat fast food.

Have you ever been to a professional sports game, which ones ?
Yes, NFL, MLB and NHL.

NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAAF, NFL, Which league is the best and why ?
NFL, because I find football the most enjoyable to play and watch.

What is your favorite video game, on mobile and or console ?
Valorant

What toppings go on your favorite pizza ?
BBQ Sauce and Chicken

Favorite School Subject ?
Chemistry

Favorite Band/Musician ?
I don’t really have a favorite band or musician. When I listen to music, I just add any song I hear and like to a playlist and then add more songs as the come on my recommended.

Airplane, Boat, or Vehicle(motorcycles included), how would you travel and to where ?
I would take an airplane to Japan, something about Japan culture interests me.

Name one thing in life(NOT SPORTS RELATED) you would like to achieve:
I would like to have a career that pays good money and that I really really enjoy doing.

Location you think would be the best place to live(ie: island, mountains, city, etc) ? Explain why:
I would say the best place to live would be near a beach. I love the beach air and the temperature.
