Caden Long-QB-CMVT

The STREAK is OVER ! On a hot, sunny Saturday afternoon, the Rams ended a 16 game losing streak dating back to week-7, 2019. The Rams last victory came week-6 against Montrose 22 to 16. CMVT opens the 2022 season on a positive note by pulling away from the Blue Devils with a pounding second half effort by both the offensive and defensive lines. The Rams rolled to the 26 point victory by way of the ground, and the air behind the arm of Caden Long who finished the game with I believe 3 touchdowns total, 2 by way of the air, 1 on the ground. His main targets were Chase Koncsler(3TDS), 1 of which was a 97 yard interception return late in the first half to extend the Rams lead over the Blue Devils to 8, leading 22 to 14. Things were looking good for the Blue Devils defensively to start things off when the Blue Devils would intercept the Rams pass on their first possession. Unfortunately the drive would stall and the Blue Devils would turn the ball over on downs on their first possession. Both defenses would go back and fourth until finally, the Blue Devils would hit big on two plays, totaling 35 yards and a score by Nick Ryan, catching Dempster’s pass in stride, turning up the sidelines into the endzone from 20 yards out putting Shenandoah Valley up first 6 to 0. After that score by the Blue Devils, CMVT revved it up a notch and began to play hard, hitting even harder.

To start the second half, the Blue Devils would get the ball and return it to their 41. From then on, trailing 22 to 14, things turned bad, first, when the Rams CB Shane Tomlinson would pick off the pass, giving the Rams great field possession at the 46 with 11:32 to go in the 3rd quarter. A few plays and minutes later, CMVT would add to their lead when QB-Long would connect with Koncsler for 39 yards down to the Blue Devils 2 yard line. Long would call his own number and rumble in from 2 yards out extending the lead to 28 to 14 after the two-point conversion failed. Penalties would haunt the Blue Devils on their next drive as it would end in another turnover on downs situation, setting up the Rams in great field position once again, this time at the 40. It wouldn’t take long for them to score, as Long would hit Koncsler for 27 yards and the score, Rams now leading 34 to 14 with 7:37 still to go in the 3rd. CMVT would add one more touchdown in the 4th quarter to put the game away and eventually run out the time to give the Rams their first win since the 2019 season.

Up Next: for the (1-0)Rams, the Northwest Area Rangers(1-0) who defeated Cowanesque Valley 51 to 19 !

Up Next: for the (0-1)Blue Devils, a HOME game vs (0-1)Upper Dauphin, who lost to Williams Valley 42 to 30 !
