In the last several years, Danville and Loyalsock have had plenty of affairs in November. This Friday night, they will write another riveting chapter when the Ironmen welcome in the Lancers to Ironmen Memorial Stadium in Danville.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
Danville Ironmen
When Mike Brennan stepped down as Head Coach of the Danville Ironmen after an impressive 2022 season, uncertainties arose. Enter former Northwest Rangers Coach Carl Majer as the man for the job. In his first season, Coach Majer has kept the winning standard with Danville en route to an 11-1 record. Standout WR Carson Persing graduated from that great 2022 team, and Aaron Johnson has stepped into that role and then some. His 27 TDs this season are tied for the most in a single season in Pennsylvania Football history. Johnson averages over 2TDs a game and is sure to break the record this Friday Night. The running game is headlined by Bo Sheptock who has found the endzone 14 times this year. After losing stellar QB Zach Gordon to graduation, Danville’s Madden Patrick has played as well as anyone in the state this year. Patrick is 2nd in the state in Passing TDs and yards. His 45TDs to just 6 INTs in 11 games is simply unreal. On the defensive side, Carter Raup is a game-wrecker that can take over a game. Cameron Kiersch also fits in well for this stout Danville defense.
LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP
After a 41-20 loss a year ago in the District title game, Loyalsock seeks revenge in 2023. Head Coach Justin Van Fleet has built a stable contender, they have recently not been able to have success against Danville. Their WR Jaylen Andrews is the star, accounting for 15 TDs and 96 yards per game through 12 games. Being a receiver, Andrews has a knack for the ball as he has 6INTs in 2023. Opposite Andrews is Jamaire Harden who has 11 receiving TDs and over 55 yards a game. QB Tyler Gee is pretty darn good too, with 31TDs in 12 games. The offense is absolutely lethal, scoring 40 or more in half their games. In their losses, they suffered from an inability to score, averaging just 13 points per game in the 3 losses. To keep up with Danville, they will need to score.
THE RUNDOWN
I don’t know about you, but I love two high-powered offenses that aren’t afraid to air it around the yard. These QBs account for 76 Passing TDs combined. We should be in for some fireworks this Friday Night.
What else could you ask for? Two great programs with history, a potential state record being broken, and an expected high-scoring affair. I guess that’s all that is left is the game, Danville and Loyalsock this Friday for the D4 3A title game.
