District Four Round Three Preview

As we roll into round three of the PIAA playoffs let’s take a look at some of the District four matchups for this upcoming weekend. 

A


In Class, A Canton won District four last Friday with a dominating 45-7 victory over Muncy. However, they may have a battle on their hands this Saturday as they travel to Towanda to face off against former State Champions and newly District three Champions, the Steel-High Steamrollers. Steel-High comes into Saturday’s game with a 42-20 victory over Delone Catholic. 

AA


In Class AA there will be a district champion crowned Friday night. The Southern Columbia Tigers and Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes square off in a game that the Tigers won 40 to 14 in the regular season. However, the Red Tornadoes come off two big wins over Sayre and Troy. For the Tigers, they have won in dominant fashion since losing to Wyomissing. Since then the Tigers defense has only allowed 38 points while scoring 297 points on offense.  Mount Carmel has won 7 straight since their last loss, to the Tigers, and have put up 340 points, giving up 124.

AAA


In Class AAA there will also be a champion crowned Friday night. The Danville Ironmen will take on the Montoursville Warriors. For the Ironmen they come off a 42-21 win over Loyalsock after a first-round bye. For the Warriors, they come off two wins, one against Athens 48-14 and barely scraping by last weekend as they took down Milton 17-14. 

AAAA


And finally, in Class AAAA the Jersey Shore Bulldogs head into state playoffs. The Bulldogs took down Selinsgrove 41-0 in the district final last Friday. The Bulldogs will head to J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown this Friday to take on the Allentown Central Catholic Vikings. The Vikings come off a big win over Northwestern Lehigh 21-14.
