Jersey Shore Improves to 3-0 With Big Win Over Central Mountain

The Jersey Shore Bulldogs and Central Mountain Wildcats faced off in an undefeated matchup Friday night with Jersey Shore coming out with a big victory. For the Bulldogs, it was a big night for Senior quarterback Branden Wheary and Junior receiver Cayden Hess. Wheary finished the game with 175 yards passing and four touchdowns as Hess finished with six catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and he also had a 46-yard pick-six. The Jersey Shore defense managed to rack up 8 sacks through the game. 

The scoring started early for the Bulldogs Friday night. On the opening kickoff, Owen Anderson took the ball to the Wildcat’s 46-yard line, and to add there was a 15-yard personal foul putting the ball on the 31-yard line. Two plays later Wheary would find Hess in the back of the endzone for the early touchdown. On the point after attempt, the Bulldogs attempted a fake kick and failed to convert making the score 6-0 41 seconds into the game. The ensuing Wildcat drive was ended with a huge sack by Hayden Packer forcing a punt. The Bulldogs failed to convert on their next drive on a fourth and short were stuffed by the defense. The Bulldogs defense stood tall again and ended the Wildcat drive when Dalton Dungan got one of his four sacks on the night. Wheary would find Hess again this time from 18 yards out on the following drive for the Bulldog touchdown. The two-point conversion was good making the score 14-0 Jersey shore with 3:23 to go in the first quarter. The following possession Hess would pick off quarterback Brett Gerlach and take it 46 yards to the house for his third touchdown of the night. The point-after attempt was no good making the score 20-0 Jersey shore with just six seconds to go in the first quarter.

Jersey Shore was the first to strike the scoreboard in the second quarter when Wheary hit Dungan for a one-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good making the score 26-0 with 10:10 to go in the half. Both defenses held their ground during the second quarter. The Central Wildcats were able to find the endzone with 4:22 to go in the half when Brett Gerlach found Micah Walizer for a 13-yard touchdown on fourth and goal. The point-after attempt was good making the halftime score 26-7 Jersey Shore.

The second half began and it was all Jersey Shore from the start. The Bulldogs managed to get five sacks this half and four touchdowns. The first score came midway through the third quarter when Anderson took the ball from 16 yards out. The two-point conversion was good making the score 34-7 Jersey Shore. The fourth quarter began when Wheary connected with Dungan for a 31-yard touchdown. The point-after attempt was good making the score 41-7 Jersey Sore. After a Wildcat punt, the Bulldogs wasted no time taking the ball down the field. After a 51 yard run by Dungan, Sophomore Brady Jordan took the ball from five yards out with 6:56 to go in the game. The point-after attempt was good making the score 48-7 Jersey Shore. The final score of the night would come off a huge 70-yard touchdown from Jordan. The point-after attempt was good, making the final score 55-7 Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore improves to 3-0 on the year and they will face Selinsgrove next Friday. Central Mountain drops to 2-1 on the year and will face Shamokin Area on October 9th.
