Week 6 of the High School Football season saw the Lewisburg Green Dragons outlast the Loyalsock Township Lancers.
After a 6-6 year in 2023, the Lewisburg Green Dragons have already matched their wins from 2023 through six games. Lewisburg was 5-0 entering this game, with dominant showings scattered around the schedule. Just last week, they shut out a then-undefeated Warrior Run team 24-0. The start to the season has been special. Running Back Jeremiah Davis is one of the state’s best players, and he’s shown it so far in 2024. Entering the game against Loyalsock, Davis had rushed for 783 yards on just 87 carries. Throughout just five games, he had 9 TDs, tonight he added 3 more to that tally. Defensively, Lewisburg has been as good as they come. Just once now through six games have they allowed more than 20 points. In those games, Lewisburg has pitched two shutouts. Although not a shutout against Loyalsock, Lewisburg had a great defensive showing in the win.
Loyalsock lost their QB-WR duo from last year, but have looked good so far in 2024. If you look away from the 47-0 loss to Southern Columbia, Loyalsock has been impressive this year. Blowout wins over Hughesville and Midd-West proved that Loyalsock is still a top team in District 4. After their #1 WR Jaylen Andrews left for graduation, a new #1 has appeared. Jalil Coates has been the Lancer’s go-to guy, racking up 256 yards and 2TDs through their first five games. Loyalsock’s main catalyst is RB Dolan Harman. Excluding this game against Lewisburg, Harman has rushed for 668 yards and has found the endzone seven times.
Under the lights of Bucknell’s Christy Mathewson Field, Lewisburg and Loyalsock went to battle.
The first quarter saw great defensive play. It’s a rarity in High School Football to see high-level tackling that was on display in the opening quarter. Both teams looked well-coached and did not miss a beat through the first 12 minutes of play.
The first score of the night would come by Loyalsock’s workhorse back Dolan Harman getting in from a few yards out.

Jeremiah Davis answered for Lewisburg late into the first half to get the game tied at 7. Unlike many low-scoring games, it wasn’t sloppy. There weren’t many turnovers or bad offense, it was all great defense that produced a low-scoring first half.

The defense continued to steal the show in the third quarter. It wasn’t until the 4-minute mark of the third quarter that Jeremiah Davis scored again to give Lewisburg the lead.

Lewisburg had the lead and would extend it again and again. A pair of Green Dragons touchdowns late gave them a 27-7 lead. Loyalsock would score on the final play of the game, but it would only make the score look better.
Lewisburg 27-13 over Loyalsock.
This win was indicative of what Lewisburg has been all year long. They did trail in this game but found their groove and scored 27 straight points to suck the will out of Loyalsock. Defensively, they were stout. They forced turnovers, rallied to the ball, and made plays on critical downs that ended up in them prevailing. ” I think the defense was outstanding, Loyalsock has a big back that runs really well, but we did a good job slowing him down” Lewisburg Head Coach Eric Wicks said after the win. Lewisburg is at Midd-West next Friday Night at seven.
This is the second bump in the road for Loyalsock, and they should be concerned. In their two losses, they have been outclassed by better teams. They had bright spots in the game, including an early lead and a strong defensive showing early. They will have to make adjustments as they head to Warrior Run next Friday at 7.
