It took a while, but the Green Dragons got their first win of the season. With the score tied at 28 and just 90 seconds to play, Lewisburg had the ball at their own 19 after Max Moyers threw Midd-Wests Caden Wolfley for a loss on fourth down. Following personal foul on the Mustangs, Moyers ran for 41 and immediately ripped off a 30yd TD for the go ahead score and the win.

Both teams started off slowly, each getting negative yardage on their first possessions. Then Lewisburg struck first. The Dragons blocked a Mustang punt but two holding calls cut that Lewisburg drive short. The Mustangs fumbled a pitch and Green Dragons were on it at the 11. From there, Moyers went into the endzone on 3rd down from the 12 for the score making it 7-0 with 3:31 left in the first quarter.

Another Mustang turnover would again lead to points. Dante Sims interception put Lewisburg on the Mustang 43. Cam Michaels 12 yard TD run opened up the second quarter and the Dragons looked to be in control with a 14-0 lead, but back came the Mustangs. Christian Regester found Wolfley for a 13 yd TD catch in the near corner of the end zone to cap a 15 play, 76yd drive  The kick was blocked by Jack Landis keeping the score 14-6 Dragons at the end of  the first half.

On their first possession of the second half, Wolfley ripped off a 43 yard td run but that was called back. It didn’t matter as Regester hit Wolfley on a short screen pass that went 53 yards to the house. Eli Swan hauled in the 2 pointer to tie the game at 14.

It was then Lewisburg’s turn to make a mistake. A fumbled snap recovered by the Mustangs gave them the ball at the Dragon 34. Regester scrambled on a fourth down play and again found Wolfley for a 35 yard td pass to put Midd-West up 21-14.

Following a roughing the passer call, Lewisburg was flagged for a hold that took the ball back 19 yards. The Dragon’s worked their way back to a 4th and 5 at the Mustangs 22. Ethan Dominick then found Cam Michaels for a 22 yard score! 21-21 3:17 left in the third quarter.

Getting the ball at their own 43 following a missed fourth down pass by Regester, Lewisburg drove to the Midd-West 26. Ethan Dominick then found Cam Michaels on fourth and 13. Michaels made a diving catch for the 26 yard td that put Lewisburg back on top, 28-21, with 11:46 left to play.

Facing a fourth down with 7:15 to play, the Mustangs punted the ball away but Austin Dorman recovered a muffed punt by Cam Michaels. The Mustangs were back in business at Dragons 26. Wofley went in from 10 yards out tying the score at 28 with 4:27 left to play.  The rest, as they say, was history as Lewisburg gets their first win and moves them to 1-3. They’ll look to continue their winning ways next week against a ferocious Montoursville.

Midd-West drops to 0-4 and will host 1-3 Mifflinburg.
