Derek Hicks has let the Selinsgrove admins know that he will be stepping down from his head coaching position. Hicks has had several great seasons with the Seals as of late. He’s been the head coach of Selinsgrove since 2015 and compiled a record of 77-33-1. This past season was a special one, winning a district title before being eliminated in the state playoffs by Aliquippa, finishing with a 13-1-1 record.
“It’s going to feel different this summer for sure” said Hicks of his about to be new found free time. “I don’t want to say I’m stepping away for good, but with my son (Caleb) making his college decision later this spring I kind of want to take some time to just be a dad. After 27 years of coaching, it’s time for a break. I’ll still be around. I told the AD that whatever he needs just reach out.”
