Chestnut Ridge comes back from 10 down to claim District 5/AA Title @CRLionsFootball

The Chestnut Ridge Lions and Berlin Mountaineers faced off again in the District 5 double AA championship game. Heading into this game Ridge has won the last 4 times between the two teams. Berlin started off the game strong with a tough ground game. Will spochart would end the drive with a run in touchdown. In the second after a penalty the Berlin offense designed a trick play with Preston Foor delivering the long touchdown pass! Chestnut Ridge would respond on the next drive with a touchdown of their own making it 14-7!
Coming into the second half Ridge was shutdown on the first drive and Berlin would force a punt. After the punt, Berlin drove the ball down inside the redzone. On 4th and 2 inside the 15 the Mountaineers would take a field goal to make it a 17-7 game.
Chestnut Ridge would start the comeback drive with a great running game. Driving the ball down the field. On 4th down the Lions would convert on a medium pass range for the touchdown making it 17-14. Few drives later Ridge would get the ball back and take it down the field and make it 21-17 with under 7:00 to go. The Mountaineers drove the ball down the field and on 4th and 7 inside the redzone Will rushed to the left outside and was just short of a first down! Chestnut Ridge would stop Berlin and would take over with 1:05 left in the game. .
After a hard fought game between two of the best in the district the lions would take a knee and win 21-17 over Berlin. The Lions have claimed the District 5/AA title for the 5th straight year.
