PIAA District V Playoffs

District V is one of the three smallest districts (12 total). It covers Somerset, Bedford and Fulton Counties. Only eleven schools play football in the district (6-A, 4-2A, and 1-3A).

#2A

#4 Chestnut Ridge (6-4) at #1 Westinghouse (9-0) from District 8.

The Lions are 0-4 against teams with winning records. Their balanced offense is led by junior quarterback Nate Whysong who threw for over 1200 yards and rushed for almost 800 more. Senior Nick Presnell lead all rushers with over 1200 yards. The Lions are averaging 32.4 and giving up 22.3 points a game. Westinghouse hasn’t scored less than 38 points or given up more than 18 in any game. QB Keyshawn Morsillo is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the state. 

PREDICTION-Westinghouse by 20

#3 Bedford (7-3) at #2 Berlin (10-0)

The Bison finally beat a team with a winning record last week when they slipped by Bishop Guilfoyle. Bedford is averaging 35.1 points a game and allowing 12.7 points per game. They allowed 90 points in their three losses. On the plus side they loss the three games by a total of ten points to teams with a combined record of 27-3. Senior quarterback Kevin Ressler leads the offense with over 600 yards passing and 700 yards passing. Senior Ethan Weber an all around athlete has almost 2000 total yards.

Berlin is the best A/AA school I have seen all year. The Mountains have eight shutouts. Their points totals per game are 44.5 versus 2.7. They have mercy ruled every team but Windber(9-1). They also shutout the top team in D6 A Penns Manor 35-0. Junior Pace Prosser leads the team with over 1400 yards passing and is the teams leading rusher.
