Football Season starts with scrimmages across the state!
The season is under way with a bang. The bad thing about trying to cover the Heritage Conference is all the games are Friday night at 7:00. All the scrimmages were today at 10:00 but I was able to make two of them for about an hour each. I was able to see both of the new additions.
Conemaugh Township Indians at Purchase Line Red Dragons
- I got to see about 50 plays
- It was a beautiful day, a little windy and the field was a little sloppy
- Both offenses struggled
- Very evenly matched game
- The Red Dragon defensive line looked impressive!
- The Indians were just missing with the deep passes.
- PL used a short passing game to complement their running attack.
- A lot of false starts and offsides which is to be expected
- I didn’t see any scoring or turnovers
- This would have been a good regular season matchup.
- Both of these teams should be playoff bound
Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays at Marion Center Stingers
-Got there as they started using the chains, also they practiced the overtime rule-starting at their opponents ten-both teams scored.
-A typical Blue Jay performance ground and pound-I don’t believe they threw a single pass while I was there
-The Stingers threw more than I expected.
-The Stingers had the better of the special teams with a good punt and they made their extra point.
-CV offense line put together a couple of nice drives.
-There were a number of offsides and turnovers
-Very evenly matched game
-I afraid both teams may struggle due to numbers
