Coach says: “Ashten experienced a breakout season last year, averaging 7.7 yards per carry and 16 yards per reception. Additionally, Ashten recorded 4 interceptions defensively. He is a modest individual who often remains unnoticed; however, the productivity he demonstrated in 2024 will make it hard for him to fly under the radar this season. Ashten exhibits exceptional dedication in the weight room, readily investing extra time to cultivate the best version of himself. He has emerged as a quiet leader and a consistently reliable player for our team. Ashten is a great student and community member. It has been remarkable to witness his progress since his freshman season.”

Let’s get to know Ashten:

Why do you play football?

Football is the most entertaining and interesting sport, there are so many different pieces to each team and everything and everyone has to be on the same page for a team to succeed.

Who is your favorite sports star and WHY?

CJ Stroud. He was a great quarterback at Ohio State, he has an amazing mentality and he’s very humble.

Do you have a favorite play you remember the most?

I had a game-sealing interception in the first game of the season against Central, when we beat them to win our first opening game in many years.

What was last year’s season like for you?

Last year’s season was very different, but in a great way. The change that our team made in one offseason was unreal and was only possible because everyone was committed and on the same page.

What are your goals for this coming season?

My goals are to win a district title, and a personal goal that I have is just to continue to improve from last season.

Who is the best player you ever lined up against?

Probably [former Clearfield running back] Brady Collins

Describe your perfect teammate:

Someone with leadership skills [who] is focused on getting better.

Tell everyone why you think football is good for a community:

Football is great for a community because it gives everyone in that community something to bond over, and it brings a way to make relationships.

Name one thing that you’d love to do in football that may never happen:

I would love to win a state championship, but the hard truth is that most likely won’t happen.

What is your favorite practice drill?

Passing segment

What is your least favorite practice drill?

Ball security

When you aren’t playing, practicing or training for sports, what is your go to activity and why?

I like to play pickleball and hang out with my friends in my free time. Pickleball is very fun, but can also get a little intense sometimes, and I also like going to get food with my friends because I like to eat.

What is your favorite meal?

My favorite meal is shrimp alfredo

What is special about your football program?

Our football program is very high on teamwork and leadership. If you don’t have leaders on the team, then the other players that may not be as skilled don’t have anyone to look up to and to learn from.
