Colts trample Stingers in rematch!

Marion Center Stingers (4-6) at Northern Cambria Colts (9-1)

Northern Cambria won a Heritage Conference rematch last night. This time it was no contest, as the Colts cruised to a 45-0 victory. The Stingers who needed to control the ball to win, gained one first down on their opening drive and punted the ball into the back of the their blocker. The Colts had the ball at the Stingers 36. They ended up having a ten play drive in which running back Jackson Sheredy scored twice only to have both called back on penalties. They than missed a 35 yard field goal. Marion Center would end the first quarter with another six play , one first down drive and punted on the last play of the quarter.

The Colts exploded in the second quarter scoring on four of five possessions with an interception in the middle. The Stingers four possessions resulted in two punts, an interception and turnover on downs. They managed nine yards in the quarter. Ty Dumm capped a 73 yard drive with an 11 yard touchdown run. The Colts second drive was only 22 yards thanks to a long Ty Dumm punt return. Jackson Sheredy capped this drive with the first of his four touchdowns. Dumm was picked on their third drive by Marion Center’s Cobe Hankinson. The fourth Colts drive was a 56 yard drive. They threw an incompletion, had a procedure penalty and than Sheredy raced 61 yards.  One play later they had the ball back after intercepting Marion Center quarterback Camden Rising. Michael Konitsky kicked a field goal as time ran out in the first half. It was 24-0 Colts at the half.

The second half started just as bad as the first half ended for the Stingers. Dumm scored his second touchdown to cap a 54 yard drive. It took one play to score on their second drive of the half as Sheredy raced 73 yards for a touchdown. Dumm intercepted the Stingers on their next possession and Sheredy cashed it in for his fourth touchdown. The final 13 minutes featured a slew of fumbles by both teams as they freely substituted. The Colts second round matchup will be another rematch. They will host Cambria Heights who they beat last week in Patton 28-11.
