The 2022 D6 A Semifinal games are happening 11/11.  The 4 teams left are #1 Penns Manor, #2 Northern Cambria, #3 Cambria Heights, and #5 Portage.  These 4 Heritage Conference teams are playing to secure their spots in the D6 Championship on 11/19 7pm @ Mansion Park.  The ultimate goal, for these teams, will be to end their seasons at Chapman Field at Cumberland Valley for the PIAA State Championship 12/8 @ 1pm.  The semifinal matchups are Portage @ Penns Manor and Cambria Heights @ Northern Cambria.  Since the 4 teams are from the Heritage Conference, these 2 games are rematches from the regular season.  In these games Penns Manor beat Portage 55-28 @ Portage, and Northern Cambria beat Cambria Heights 35-28 @ Northern Cambria.

Cambria Heights @ Northern Cambria

#3 Cambria Heights will play @ #2 Northern Cambria in a D6 A Semifinal game on 11/11.  This game is a rematch from the first week of the season.  In this game Northern Cambria won 35-28 on their home field.  Northern Cambria had a big day rushing with 352 yards.  Northern Cambria managed to do what most teams in the Heritage Conference hasn’t when they slowed down Cambria Heights running attack of Senior QB Ty Stockley and Senior RB Tanner Trybus.  Stockley was held to 64 yards and Trybus 77 yards.  For this game, Northern Cambria’s Senior QB Owen Bougher went 13-19 for 102 yards and 2 TDs passing.  Senior RB Colton Paronish ran for 101 yards and 1 TD on 10 carries.  Sophomore WR Ty Dumm had 5 receptions for 75 yards and 2 TDs for Northern Cambria.

Last Friday, Northern Cambria beat #7 Moshannon Valley 55-28.  Bougher was 8-13 for 200 yards and 2 TDs passing.  Paronish had 15 carries for 152 yards and 2 TDs.  Senior WR Peyton Myers had 6 receptions for 151 yards and 1 TD.  On defense, Northern Cambria was led by Senior Cody Dumm who had 17 tackles.

Cambria Heights beat #6 Homer Center 21-7 last week.  Trybus had a nice night on both sides of the ball.  Trybus rushed 17 times for 112 yards with 2 TDs, and he had 2 INTs on defense.  Cambria Heights had 3 INTs on the night.  The Cambria Heights held Homer Center to 58 yards rushing and 89 yards total for the game.

This game is a big rival game and even has a name: ” The Coal Bowl” The second version of the Coal Bowl should be a good one.  Northern Cambria needs to keep the good Cambria Heights defense off balance like it did in the first meeting with Bougher passing and running from Paronish and Junior RB Jack Sheredy.  Cambria Heights needs to keep the great defensive momentum from last Friday going, and they need to get Stockley and Trybus more yards then the first meeting.
