Tyrone and Bellefonte Set for Another Chapter in Long-Standing Rivalry

Tyrone and Bellefonte have been facing off since 1922, when Bellefonte won 8-7. The two teams have played a total of 75 times, with Tyrone leading the all-time series 43-23-9.

The last time Tyrone and Bellefonte faced off, Tyrone did not look unstoppable, but they were ahead 20-7 going into the fourth quarter and seemingly had the game in hand.

Bellefonte RB Ashten Howell started the comeback with a 1-yard carry into the end zone, cutting the score to 20-14. Unfortunately for Tyrone, they were not ready for the onside kick, and Bellefonte’s Jackson Long recovered the kick.

After nine plays, sophomore QB Brennan Huntsinger threw a 10-yard passing touchdown to give Bellefonte a 21-20 lead with just 21 seconds left in the game.

With 21 seconds remaining, Tyrone came past the 50-yard line on a pass from Eli Woomer to Jesse Parks, but it just was not enough to get Tyrone into scoring position before time ran out.

Todays game looks to be a good one.

Bellefonte has multiple returning starters coming back, including returning QB Brennan Huntsinger and the Howell brothers, Ashten and Alten.

The big question for Tyrone will be their offensive line, as they are returning only one lineman, Kyler Suhoney. On the skill-position side, Tyrone has multiple returnees. Most notable is WR Mason Emigh, who is a star on both sides of the ball. Also returning are QB Ben Walk and RB Caleb Whitby.

With both teams returning key players and looking to start the season strong, tomorrow night’s matchup should be another exciting chapter in the long-standing Tyrone-Bellefonte rivalry.

Kickoff is today at 7:00 PM at Gray Veterans Memorial Field in Tyrone.
