United Valley in the first game after the Co-Op agreement between United and Blacklick Valley, played a tough game but was just out matched by a big Homer Center team.  Homer Center didn’t play the best game.  Homer had 5 fumbles (0 Lost) that stalled a couple drives.  Also, starting QB Cole McAnulty went down early in the second quarter and never returned.  Homer Center also had 5 penalties for 30 yards.  Homer Center head coach Greg Page has to hope this is just week 1 issues and Homer Center will get things straightened out before River Valley comes to town next week.

The game started by United Valley going 3 and out.  Homer Center then had a 10 play drive with 2 first downs.  The drive stalled after a delay of game penalty and a fumble that lost 6 yards.  Homer Center pinned United Valley deep in their own territory on 14.  After a short run and incomplete pass, Homer Center LB Mason Bell intercepted an Isaac Worthington pass on the United Valley 29.  Two plays later QB McAnulty ran for a 24 yard Touchdown.  Michael Krejocic kicked the PAT for a 7-0 Homer lead with 3:19 left in the first quarter.  A nice kick return by United Valley’s Gino DiPaolo gave United Valley the ball at their 44.  United Valley had their own 10 play drive, that included an 18-yard pass from Worthington to Zack Travis.  This drive stalled when the Lions turned the ball over on downs after a fumbled snap on the Homer Center 19.  Homer Center put together a nice 9 play 81-yard TD drive which included a nice 32 yard run by McAnulty.  McAnulty took a hard hit at the end of this run, and the starting QB was taken out of the game and never returned.  Riley Clevenger came into the game and led Homer Center to their 2nd TD.  Krejocic ran the ball in from the 16, and he kicked the PAT to put the Wildcats up 14-0 with 4:42 left in the first half.  United Valley and Homer Center traded 3 and outs, and United ended the first half with the ball near midfield.

Homer Center received the second half kickoff and started their drive from their own 48.  Homer put together a 6 play 52-yard TD drive that included a 10-yard holding penalty by Homer and a 15-yard facemask penalty by United.  Landon Hill ran the TD in from 1 yard out and Krejocic missed the PAT, so Homer led 20-0 with 10:17 to go in the 3rd quarter.  United Valley started their next drive at their own 19, and on 4th and 1 on their own 28 United Valley head coach Kevin Marabito decided to go for it.  The Lions were stopped for no gain and the Wildcats took over on downs.  The United Valley defense stiffened up and on 4th and 6 from the United Valley 24, United Valley DB Alex Reba intercepted a Riley Clevenger pass at the Lions 20-yard line.  United Valley put together an 11-play drive with 3 first downs, with Lions Josh Hessler getting most of the touches (31 rushing and 18 receiving).  The United Valley drive stalled at the Wildcats 41 when Homer Center took over on downs after back-to-back incomplete passes.  Homer’s next drive started with a high snap that lost 11 yards, a bobbled snap that lost 10 yards, and a run of no gain.  Homer punted to United Valley, but United couldn’t capitalize on the momentum and they went 3 and out on the next drive.  United Valley’s punt went off the side of the punters foot and United Lost 5 yards.  Two plays later Homer Center’s Landon Hill ran the ball in from the 21 and then ran the 2 pt conversion in.  Homer Center led 28-0 with 9:10 left in the game.  United Valley and Homer Center traded 3 and outs.  With both teams bringing in substitutions, United Valley had a 6 play 70-yard TD drive.  The United Valley touchdown came on a 41-yard pass from Braydon Brown to Evan Thomas with 1:49 left in the game. Final score Homer Center 28 United Valley 6.  United Valley hosts Penns Manor (1-0) and Homer Center hosts River Valley (0-1) next week.
