Why did you choose football?

It’s always been something that I’ve loved for my whole life. My whole family has played football and all love the game to this day. But it’s something that I’ve been doing for about 13 years now and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon if I can help it.

What is your favorite football memory?

My favorite football memory is when I was about 5 or 6 I threw up in a kids helmet just because I ate a little too much before practice. The coaches had him rinse out his helmet and put it back on for the rest of practice. We still laugh about it to this day.

What activities do you enjoy outside of football?

Outside of football I wrestle so most of my time is taken up by that when the season comes around. But after that I usually hang out with my friends and play basketball, go to the gym and usually play video games, ya know the things every teenage boy does on a daily basis.

What non-football accomplishment are you most proud of?

The thing that I’m most proud of accomplishing is winning my 5th grade spelling bee.. I’m just playing but it’s really when I started volunteering with my mother at her non profit organization from the city mission for people in recovery

Who is your favorite athletes and why?

Some of my favorite athletes are JJ Watt because of how dominant he is and how  selflessly gives back to his community. Another one of my favorite athletes is Mark Ingram just because of how he can take over a game and once he gets going the almost no stopping him it’s almost like it’s impossible to stop him.

What has been the most difficult part of offseason training during the pandemic?

It really hasn’t been that difficult for me to train during the offseason but the only challenge was finding a gym that was open. But during the red phase it was just hard to keep in shape when absolutely nothing was open.

Who is your biggest role model?

My biggest role model(s) would be my grandad Eugene Miller and my late and great grandmother on the other side of my family Patty Barnes. My grandfather is considered to be arguably one of the best athletes I pass through Chartiers Houston, being a starter on the now WPIAL hall of fame 1970-72 undefeated and WPIAL champion football team, a 144-155 pound wrestling champ. He also played coroner and safety for West Virginia university and had tried out with the Pittsburgh Steelers. On top of being a great athlete he’s an even better person. He taught me to never give up and if things don’t go my way, work even harder till they do. But my grandmother was one of the main reasons I love the game. There was never a day where I didn’t wanna be at her house as a kid, not only did me and my siblings have fun over there, she also taught us valuable lessons. Her famous quote besides “I don’t care” and “go get me a Pepsi” was “I know life is a b*tch and she don’t fight fair.” And I’ve lived by that my whole life.

What are you most looking forward to about playing in District 7 this year?

The thing I’m most looking forward to with playing on district 7 is the raise on competition level. On top of that my brother plays quarterback for wash high, my uncle Richie coaches there and I’ve got other family members and close friends that play for that team and on top of that Chartiers and wash high has always been kind of a cross-town rivalry so watch out for September 25th on the calendar because it’s gonna be a good one.

What are your parents most likely to yell from the stands?

Most of the time my mom is just cheering me on because she knows how much I actually love the game of football and that I’m usually at my happiest out there. And my dad is usually doing the same but he mixes in a little bit of constructive criticism since he was also a running back when he was in high school as well.

What are your team and personal goals for the season?

Quite honestly I love how our team is looking this year and I have high hopes for us and think we can make a playoff run. I think people really sleep on us but I think we could come out and punch some teams in the mouth if they sleep on us. But personally my goals are to either shoot for leading rusher, scorer or both on the team and in the conference

What’s your favorite sport, outside of football, to play or watch?

I watch a lot of basketball and I occasionally play it. I’m a big fan of the Celtics and heat so when either of those teams are on tv I’ll is usually watch it.

What’s one thing you hope other players can learn from you?

One thing that I want others players to learn from me is my  competitiveness and drive to win. Ever since I was a child I hated losing and it shows to this day. When I was a child I used to even cry when I lost a game of NCAA to my family and friends but I guarantee you the next game I would win no matter what it took. I want everyone’s hat looks at me as player to say I was one of the most driven/competitive players they’ve watched or seen.

Favorite sports team?

Hands down its the Steelers. Growing up and watching them win the Super Bowl against the Cardinals was probably one of the many highlights of my childhood.

What are you looking to most this upcoming school year?

With it being my junior year, I’m really just focused on making it one of the best yet just because it’s almost over and the trailing end of my sophomore year was taken away. But this is an important year all together and I just wanna make the most of it sports-wise, academically, etc.

What motivates you?

There are a couple things that motivate me, one of them being my family, especially my mother. She’s been through a lot from having me at 18, to being a single mother, to being in the military, nurse, and manager of a city mission shelter all within 16 years. She’s done so much for me and finds so much joy when she watches me do what I love. So I wanna make it out of here so she doesn’t have to worry or work.

How has football developed you as a person?

Football has taught me some valuable lessons in the 13 years I’ve been playing. It’s taught me that some of the people that you meet within the sport whether they’re on your team or not could end up being your brothers for life and nothing could break those bonds. It also taught me that no matter how hard you get get hit you’re never too hurt to get back up, and if you can’t your teammates always can pick you up.

What is your pre-game meal?

I usually help out our schools jr. high football  practice so I stay after school but my go-to meal is usually get the school’s chicken sandwich with fries.

Any superstitions?

I always have to have a bang energy (no sponsor) before every game while I listen to my gameday playlist. I also have to put on my equipment in a certain order. It goes headband, arm sleeves play calling wristband, girdle, socks, pants, jersey and pants then gloves. Nothing different
