Key Newcomers
We are experiencing tremendous interest and excitement in our football program here at Burrell High School. We expect close to 50 players on our Varsity Roster for 2020 and there are several talented multiple sport athletes who have decided to join our football program that will greatly help us including Sr. WR/LB A.J. Corrado who is one of the top ranked wrestlers in the nation. We have a great group of hardworking players who have been in our system now for a few seasons who will look to earn playing time and an outstanding group of 17 freshman athletes on our roster that are very talented and I would not be surprised to see some of them compete for playing time at some point this season.

What does your offense need to improve on from last year?
We will continue to be efficient and explosive with our No Huddle No Mercy Offensive System. We will have the challenge of replacing over 3,500 yards of rushing and receiving from 2019. I believe we have several players who will fit into those roles and make an impact for us offensively. We return one of the top quarterbacks in the state Alex Arledge who shattered nearly every school passing record last season. On the offensive line we return four out of five starters (Seth Fisher, Joey Shybloski, Gavynn Thompson, Ian Quinn) from last season will will greatly help our offense as we transition into having new skill position players in the lineup.

What does your defense need to improve on from last year

Defensively we return five starters from last year and we will look to continue to play fast, physical, and disciplined. We want to be the most fundamentally sound tackling team in the conference. We return five starters on defense as well as several other players who saw time on the defensive unit. We return Cole Clark at nose guard who was a disruptive force at that position in the conference last season as well as Josh Boak who was second on the team in tackles last season from his linebacker position. Those two players provide a great anchor in the interior of our defensive unit.
