2020 RECAP
Possibly the weirdest season in Greyhounds history. Not only did the Hounds have to deal with a pandemic, they also had to deal with attrition, a new coach’s regime, drama, and forfeits. The Shane Swope era in Monessen has ended without a win recorded. It remains to be seen what the team will look like going forward, however, Wade Brown is a smart choice, and hopefully will be able to get the numbers up to complete an entire season.
OFFENSE
Shane Swope’s son, Shane Swope Jr. is gone at QB and there is little to replace him there. NIGIER FOSTER is the leading candidate as the best returning athlete on the team. If not Foster, he will still have an impact on every play for the Greyhounds this season. KIANTAE ROBINSON at RB will have to be the main rusher for the Hounds is they want to make any noise in the conference.
DEFENSE
Monessen has always had a strong defensive tradition, and that continued in 2020. In their worst loss the Greyhounds only gave up 30 points. Expect that tradition to continue with dynamic edge rusher JERMERE MAJORS leading the line.
OVERVIEW
Wade Brown will become the Greyhounds third coach in as many years and looks to try and return ot the grit and grind of classic Monessen teams compared to the showtime version that Swope put together last year. The defense is still right there with the best in the conference, but Wade Brown has to find a QB if they want to win any games. A benefit is that the Hounds play Bentworth and Jefferson Morgan so early in the year, if the Greyhounds can pull off those wins, it will be a very positive season for Monessen. The biggest goal first and foremost for Wasde Brown in his first year at the helm will be to finish the season without any forfeits and with enough players to compete.
