2020 RECAP

Despite only going 3-4, the Trinity Hillers  were in the playoff hunt up until the Belle Vernon game. The Hillers nearly defeated the McKeesport Tigers on the road and suffered a last minute loss to the Laurel Highlands Mustangs to finish out the year. Now with most of the roster turning over, Jon Miller is tasked to find the magic that the Hillers had in the mid season of 2020 once again.

OFFENSE

The Trinity offense will dearly miss Peyton Thompson and Micah Finley. They will now have to rely on the next generation of feature backs in DREW CAIN and HUNTER STRICKLAND. CONNOR ROBERTS is back at QB and he will have his preferred receiving target in TYSEAN LACKS back as well. There will be 3 starters gone from a standout offensive line, however MASON KRAEER and TY BANCO will look to anchor the interior as both tackles will be replaced.

DEFENSE

A surprisingly good defensive line turns over everyone from a year ago and that will be the biggest task for Jon Miller to find replacements for. Having KRAEER and BANCO back will certainly help. GIO CIPOLETTI can play both DE and LB and if he takes strides he will be in the backfield plenty.

OVERVIEW

Trinity has spent the last few seasons between playoff team and bottom of the conference, but with an extended playoff format, this may be Trinity’s chance to make the big dance. Unfortunately the Hillers will have to reload from one of the most successful classes in recent memory. The Hillers will open up against regional rival Canon Mac, a matchup that hasn’t happened in a while. 3 of the last 4 conference games for the Hillers should be winnable, and if they win all three against West Mifflin, Laurel Highlands and Ringgold, then the Hillers will be playing in late October/early November. It will also be interesting to see who Trinity fills their open date with, as a game against Washington last year was a huge boost in the teams momentum.
