2020 RECAP

West Greene was a young team in 2020. There’s no denying that. A team that started out hot against Mapletown, endured a Covid pause and upset loss to Avella, and then a two game skid before finishing the season the best of anyone in the conference. Part of the Pioneers resurgence came from freshman COLLIN BRADY who looks to be the Pioneers next great star.

WES WHIPKEY beat out NATHAN ORNDOFF for the starting job last season in camp and played admirably, however the Pioneers attack was mainly led by COLLIN BRADY and COREY WISE. Both return behind a line that returns almost everyone. Ever since Brian Hanson became the head man at West Greene it has been a countdown to when Hanson had the guys to execute his gameplan. It looks like this season will be his best opportunity.

West Greene returns everyone from one of the most impressive defensive lines in 2020, and one of the best LBs in the conference in COREY WISE. CASEY MILLER will lead the line, and ORNDOFF, WHIPKEY and BRADY will be joined by HUNTER HAMILTON for one of the best secondaries in the TCS.

The pantry is stocked in Rogersville. West Greene graduated only 3 seniors over the offseason, as a heavy senior laden team comes back from a bitter season that if a few plays were different could have gone much differently. A weaker out of conference schedule means that the stages will be set for September 17th when the Pioneers welcome California to Kennedy Field. The Pioneers may not have the top end talent in a guy like Ben Jackson like two years ago, but 2021 offers arguably West Greene’s deepest team in recent memory. If Collin Brady takes the next step and becomes a star, West Greene is a team that will threaten for the conference title.
