2020 RECAP

West Mifflin entered the 2020 season led by one man, Nahki Johnson, but left the season with a wealth of exciting young athletes. A win against Ringgold and a strong showing against a McKeesport team that would beat Thomas Jefferson the week after gave excitement for prospects that could take the next step in 2021.

OFFENSE

TAYSHAWN MCMILLAN became the starter from the getgo for West Mifflin and it was more or less a mixed bag from the sophomore. Look for the experience to take hold and MCMILLAN to become one of the top QBs in the Big Eight. The most exciting thing is the plethora of weapons around him. The brothers TYRESE and TYRELL OGLETREE and ANDRE SPENCER will be a nightmare for most of the teams in the Big Eight. The line suffered from graduation but there;s enough returning to feel comfortable. Look out for CARSON NOVOSEL and BRAEDON CROUSEY to take strides.

DEFENSE

Losing Nahki Johnson won’t hurt as much as losing every starter on the line will. The Titans will be looking for athletes on the line while nearly every linebacker and secondary member returns. If the Titans find pressure, this could be a scary defense once again.

OVERVIEW

For the past seasons, West Mifflin has been known for underperforming despite high talent levels. In 2020, the talent was there but the experience was not. Now with almost every offensive weapon back, confidence is high on the river. The Titans open with three bona fide playoff teams on the 3A, 4A, and 5A classifications which will all be difficult tests, then host Belle Vernon. With all of the experience back, it should not show until Week 4. If the Titans can schedule a more winnable game for their open date, the Titans should compete in every game down the stretch aside from their home finale against the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars. If all things click, the Titans will be the best of the rest and be in the playoff hunt.
