Belle Vernon defeated Mckeesport Area on Friday night. Both teams found themselves in penalty troubles from start to finish. The game began with Mckeesport facing a 4th down and a punt that Belle Vernon turned into a touchdown pass from Braden Laux to Anthony Crews, taking an early 7-0 lead.

Mckeesport’s drive was then ended by penalties, resulting in another 4th down and a punt. Belle Vernon capitalized on this with a promising drive. However, Belle Vernon couldn’t convert on 4th down, turning the ball over to Mckeesport. Adam LaCarte recovered a fumble for Belle Vernon, and they came up short on 4th down to close out the 1st quarter.
The second quarter saw Belle Vernon struggling to convert on 4th down, leading to a turnover on downs. Mckeesport took advantage as Anthony Cromerdie intercepted a Belle Vernon pass, setting the stage for a 60-yard touchdown run by Anthony Boyd, locking the score at 7-7. Both teams continued to struggle with 4th down conversions, and the half ended with a Mckeesport interception.

In the third quarter, both teams exchanged punts, and the action remained tight. Mckeesport finally broke the deadlock when Garrett Tarker found the end zone from 7 yards out, giving them a 14-7 lead.However, Belle Vernon quickly answered with an impressive 74-yard touchdown run by Anthony Crews, bringing the score back to a tie at 14-14.

The fourth quarter mirrored earlier struggles with 4th down conversions, leading to a competitive finish that forced the game to overtime. Braden Laux of Belle Vernon scored from 4 yards out to begin overtime and Mckeesport had one last chance to level the game, but they were unable to convert, with Belle Vernon’s defense sealing a 21-14 victory in overtime.
