For three quarters it was a defensive struggle between Steel Valley and Beaver Falls but in the fourth quarter it Beaver Falls that came away with a Clutch 14-12 win over Steel Valley. “It is hard to put it into words, they’ve been doing it all year, this team like I’ve been saying to you guys has been through so much on and off the field, but when you look up the word family in the dictionary you’re going to see the 2022 Beaver Falls Tigers, these kids love for each other, they fight for each other they pick each other up, one guy makes a mistake, next guy makes a play they’ve been doing it all year long, that’s how you win championships and that’s why they won today” said Coach Nardone.

Steel Valley got the ball to start the game but went three and out. On the first drive for Beaver Falls it was also the same story. Steel Valley got the ball for the second time and the drive started at their own 47 yard line. After a big run by Donald Barksdale they were at the Beaver Falls 28 yard line. Eventually he would score on a 13 yard touchdown run. Which made it 6-0 Steel Valley with 4:51 in the first quarter.

The second drive for Beaver Falls was looking good. It was a long drive that took up a lot of clock. The drive went inside the Steel Valley 15 yard line but the drive ended on a turnover on downs.

Outside of those 2 drives it was a defensive struggle with both teams barely moving the ball. The score at the end of the first quarter was 6-0 Steel Valley. “They’ve been impressive all year, I mean just look at the stat lines, they have not given up many rushing yards to anybody some of the best teams rushing the ball, some of the best running backs rushing the ball in the WPIAL and we have shut it down because of the way these guys lock in, the way these guys prepare during the week and the way they execute on Friday” said Coach Nardone.

The score at halftime was 6-0 Steel Valley and the only 2 drives that went past midfield was the Steel Valley touchdown drive and the Beaver Falls long drive that resulted in no points.

The second half was looking like it was going to go the same exact way. Late in the third quarter is when the game change. Beaver Falls started a drive on the Steel Valley 38 yard line. The drive featured some very clutch moments. Da’Sean Anderson he had a catch down to the 20 yard line, a fourth down catch to the 9 yard line and to top it off a fourth down touchdown catch of 10 yards which tied the game at 6 with 3:12 in the third quarter.”Hats off to Kadin Brickner , the kid was our third string quarterback in the season, he never quit, he never got upset he did what he needed to do and he gave our wide outs a chance and our kids freaking made plays all of them they all made plays today” said Coach Nardone. “It was a happy moment I was like yeah we’re really in it and that momentum had come back to us, we were feeling ourselves, we were getting into a groove, our defense was getting stops, our offense kept driving we just weren’t completing drives but we knew we could get the job done every time we got the ball down the field” said Anderson. He had a big game he had 5 catches for 51 yards.

Steel Valley went three and out and punted it back to Beaver Falls. It was looking like Beaver Falls was gonna take the lead but on one play Beaver Falls fumbled the ball and Rasaun Hough picked it up and scored on a 78 yard touchdown fumble return. That tied the score at 12 with 5:23 in the fourth quarter.

Beaver Falls started their next drive on their own 45 yard line. This drive also featured 2 fourth down conversions and both again were catches by Da’Sean Anderson. The drive was finished off on a 4 yard run by Da’talian Beauford he also scored on the go ahead 2 point conversion. That drive gave Beaver Falls a 14-12 lead with 44 seconds left in the game.

Steel Valley got the ball at the 50 yard line so they did have a shot to win it but one more Da’Sean Anderson came up with the game winning interception. “It was a lucky interception, I think he ran the wrong route I ain’t gonna lie, so I got lucky but it felt amazing I seen the ball in the air and when I caught it I just knew the game was over” said Anderson.

Next week Beaver Falls will play the winner of Farrell versus Westinghouse at a site to be determined.
