On Friday night the Bethel Park Blackhawks defeated the Latrobe WIldcats 42-7 in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs.
Coming into today both teams were looking for their second ever WPIAL titles with Bethel winning theirs in 2008 and Latrobe in 1968.
The Blackhawks scored on all, but two of their drives, with both coming late in the fourth quarter. Four of those touchdowns came from running back senior JaVaughn Moore and the other two coming from senior athlete Ryan Petras.
Latrobe started the game with the ball and showed signs of a promising drive, but it stalled out and ended with a blocked field goal.
Bethel Park responded with a lengthy first drive Moore scored his first touchdown of the game from inside the 10-yard line and the Blackhawks led 7-0 by the end of the first quarter.
The Blackhawks went on to score 20 points in the second quarter, two of the touchdowns coming from Moore inside the 10-yard line and Petras had one from a jet sweep run.
