The Central Catholic Vikings dominated tonight, shutting down the Seneca Valley Raiders offense and holding them to just seven points, all scored in the first quarter. The game quickly got out of reach, with the Vikings leading 40-7 by halftime and continuing their relentless pace. They added 21 more points in the second half, securing a decisive 61-7 victory.

The Raiders opened the scoring in the first quarter with their only score of the game, a long pass to Danny Drennan, putting them ahead 7-0 with 4:40 left in the quarter. The Vikings quickly responded on their next drive, as Roman Thompson evened the score at 7-7. The first quarter ended with both teams tied at 7.

The Vikings took complete control in the second quarter, unleashing 37 unanswered points. The scoring spree began with a screen pass caught by Bradley Gompers, making it 14-7 with 9:08 left in the half. The Vikings’ defense continued to stifle the Raiders, and quarterback Jy’aire Walls extended the lead with a rushing touchdown. The PAT was no good, bringing the score to 20-7 with 6:20 remaining.

After another dominant stop by the Vikings’ defense, Elijah Faulkner powered through for a run that ended with a diving attempt at the pylon, pushing the score to 27-7 with 4:01 left. Following a successful onside kick, the Vikings struck again as Faulkner found the end zone for a second time. An unsuccessful 2-point attempt kept the score at 33-7 with 3:50 on the clock.

With just 1:45 remaining in the half, Gompers snagged his second receiving touchdown, sending the Vikings into halftime with a commanding 40-7 lead

Following an hour-long delay due to the lights turning off, the Vikings received the ball to start the second half. Elijah Faulkner wasted no time, securing his third touchdown of the game and extending the lead to 47-7 with 10:23 left in the third quarter. The Raiders managed to hold onto the ball for a bit, but the Vikings’ defense ultimately shut them down, forcing another turnover.

With 5:27 on the clock, Xxavier Thomas took a seemingly simple screen pass and turned it into a big play, adding another touchdown to make it 54-7. That score held until the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw limited action, with the only score coming from Viking Jayden Alexander, sealing the final score at 61-7 in favor of Central Catholic.

Central Catholic improves to 7-2 overall and remains undefeated in section play at 5-0. To wrap up the regular season, they will head to Cannon Mac for a matchup against the Big Macs.

The Seneca Valley Raiders drop to .500 on the season and 4-1 in section play. To close out the year, they will travel to face the North Allegheny Tigers.
