Central Valley moved on to the AAA WPIAL championship game with a win over Elizabeth Forward. Central Valley rushed for five of their seven touchdowns in their semifinal game against EF, the lopsided score was partly due to the outstanding Offensive Line play.
Even with the opposing team blitzing 10 on multiple occasions they managed to carry the ball with little to no negative yardage plays. This led to a blowout win 51-0 in Central Valleys favor.
The game began with an exchange of punts taking up most of the first quarter with both teams going three and out to start the game. Central Valley struck first with a field goal at the end of the first quarter to bring the score to 3-0. The second was much different, a trio of touchdowns coming from Central Valley all but solidified their victory before the second half bringing the score to a staggering 31-0.
The second half started with an outstanding kick return by Elizabeth Forward bringing them to the opposing 35-yard line, this was short lived, however. A pick six was thrown by EF just two plays later making this game all but over. With a failed extra point this brought the score to 37-0 Central and with the mercy rule in affect the clock continued to run for the rest of the matchup.
The fourth quarter started with an impressive EF drive bringing them down to Central Valley’s three yard line. EF had their first real scoring chance all night but were only able to pick up two of the three yards needed. Central took the ball for the final score of the game. A 75 yard run by a Central Valley running back put the final nail in the coffin for Elizabeth Forward The. The final score was 51-0 Central Valley. Central Valley will face North Catholic in the WPIAL AAA Championship Saturday at Heinz Field .
