It was a slow start for both teams in the first half but eventually OLSH’s run game got going in their 28-8 victory over Greensburg Central Catholic.

Greensburg Central Catholic got the ball to start the game but they quickly went three and out. OLSH also had a similar start going three and out and 2 penalties didn’t make it easy.

After a not so good punt Greensburg Central Catholic’s second drive started at the OLSH 45 yard line. But again they failed to capitalize and ultimately turned the ball over on downs.

OLSH’s second drive started at their own 25 yard line. It was looking like a successful drive. After a big run by BJ Vaughn they were in Greensburg territory. The drive got as far as inside the 20 yard line, after that the drive stalled and OLSH turned the ball over on downs. The drive took up over 10 plays and it didn’t result in any points.

After that stop it seemed like Greensburg had a little bit of momentum. After a big pass play they were at the OLSH 36 yard line. But after another first down a couple of incomplete passes ruined the drive and they turned the ball over on downs. At the end of the first quarter the game was scoreless.

OLSH started their next drive at their own 26 yard line and again it was another long drive and this drive got deep into Greensburg territory. The drive went bad when it was fumbled into the end zone. That was really the story of the first half OLSH was able to move the ball but just couldn’t finish off drives. “First Half we made some mistakes, we dropped one in the end zone and fumbled going in and you can’t do that against a good team like Greensburg Central” said Coach Bradley.

The second quarter was much like the first quarter but the one difference was OLSH was finally able to find the end zone very later in the quarter.  Nehemiah Azeem connected with Zion McIntosh for an 18 yard touchdown pass making it 7-0 with 23 seconds left before half. Azeem played a big role in the win for OLSH he was 13 of 21 for 140 yards passing.

OLSH got the ball to start the second half but went three and out. Greensburg started their first of the second half on their own 48 yard line. On the very first play Amari Mack nearly scored but was tackled at the 9 yard line. After a couple runs and incomplete passes the drive stalled and Greensburg turned the ball over on downs. OLSH’s defense was another story in this game. “We’re getting better, we’re getting big plays from our guys up front and we’ve been able to force some turnovers on the backside, the whole 11 guys are playing pretty well right now” said Coach Bradley.

Greensburg’s first points of the game came by a safety. After that OLSH took control of the game. One of the drives was setup by OLSH’s defense on an interception. They started with the ball at the Greensburg 40 yard line. Eventually Nehemiah Azeem scored on a 1 yard run making it 14-2 OLSH. That would be the score at the end of the third quarter. “We got going in the second half made fewer mistakes and we were able to punch it in” said Coach Bradley.

The fourth quarter was when the game got out of reach. The first score which made it 21-2 was a 27 yard run by BJ Vaughn. OLSH used a trio of backs that took control of the game. “We got guys who can play” said Coach Bradley.

The Final score for OLSH came with 1:18 left in the game on a 2 yard run by Brandon Brazell. He also had a big role in the game he had 102 yards on 21 carries.

Greensburg added a score with 23 seconds left in the game which made the final score 28-8 OLSH. OLSH improves to 7-3 on the season and will face Clairton in the second round.
