Elizabeth Forward Charlie Meehleib is one of those class of 2024 recruits who saw his recruitment take off this spring. Bucknell, Army, Air Force, VMI, Maine and Lehigh have all made bids for the 6-4, 247 defensive end but it was his visit with the Bucknell coaching staff that sealed the deal. He made his announcement on twitter:

WE CAUGHT UP WITH CHARLIE TO ASK HIM ABOUT HIS CHOICE:

PFN: Why did you choose to commit to the Bison before your Sr season?

I love everything about Bucknell, I was ready to commit to a school I love, that I felt loved me back. The relationship I have with the coaches is incredible. Having the opportunity to continue my academic career while doing something I love is a blessing!

PFN: Who was your biggest influence there. , who recruited you?

My biggest influence at Bucknell would easily be all of the coaches. Having them take a chance on me was huge! The relationships with all of the coaches helped make my decision a no brainer. Coach Bracken, who recruited me, is unfortunately not with them anymore. He was a great coach and individual to be around.

PFN: What are they getting in player like you?

I am the type of player who is going to go 100%, 100% of the time. I am working to not make myself better, but the people around me as well.

PFN: What was the recruiting process like for you?

My recruiting process was an absolute blessing. Having Bucknell be the first school to take a chance on me was huge! Thank you to all of the other schools who offered me as well!

PFN: Do you know what you’d like to study?

I believe I would like to go for physical therapy.

PFN: What role did your parents play in your decision?

Having my parents on this journey was a blessing and they were there for me every step of the way. They left this decision completely up to me, while offering me guidance and advice. I could never thank them enough!

PFN: What do you think is the most exciting thing about the program?

Talking with the coaches, it would definitely be the new facilities being put it and a flip in the program. Bucknell is heading up hill and there will be nothing in the way to stop it!

PFN: What are you most looking forward to while playing for them?

I am really looking forward to being apart of such a tight group of individuals. Having the opportunity to build my own legacy and become something of myself really drives me everyday.

PFN: Tell everyone out there in the football world something they’d never know about you until you told them:

At a very young age, I looked at my parents and told them I wanted to play division 1 football. Throughout the years, they held me to that standard and I could not be more thankful.

PFN: Who is the person who most influenced you in your football career?

Definitely my mom and dad. Knowing my parents are cheering for me everyday really drives me to be the best!

Why do you play football?

Football truly is an escape from reality, having the opportunity to fly around on the field with your brothers is a blessing. It has built bonds and brotherhoods over these years that nothing else could have.

What would you do to improve the recruiting process?

To improve my recruiting progress, I would have honestly committed to Bucknell sooner. I have always heard to go where where you are wanted. The coaches really showed me that, and I am very happy with my decision.

PFN: What is it you’d like all your high school teammates and fans to know about your decision that you might have a hard time saying in person?

Thank you to everyone who has been with me on this journey! Supposed me, been there for me, absolutely everything… it has truly been a blessing!
