The Fox Chapel Foxes ran their way into Upper St. Clair to face the Panthers in the first round of WPIAL 5A action, and it was the Foxes who won the ultimate foot race.
Fox Chapel struck first on a Khi’lee Patterson strike to Colin Kwiatkowski to make it 7-0 late in the first quarter.

The two teams frequently traded punts throughout the game, with a Bennett Henderson 23-yard field goal the only USC scoring of the half, making it 7-3 Fox Chapel after the first 24 minutes.
Upper St. Clair looked to take the lead, but an interception in the end zone by Christian Gaston shut the door on the Panther drive.
A few minutes later, Patterson took it from one yard out to pad the Foxes lead to double digits, 13-3 after the extra point was blocked.

Upper St. Clair received the ball back with momentum on its side in the final few minutes of regulation, but Fox Chapel held on and stopped the Panthers on 4th and 3 at the Foxes’ 25 yard line.
Upper St. Clair played multiple players at quarterback including Erdos, Cepullio, and Ethan Hiester. The Panthers finish the season 6-5 and drop only their second game at home in 2021.
Fox Chapel improves to 5-6 overall after losing three-straight games, moving on to the next round of the WPIAL 5A playoffs in a stunning upset.
