“Winning on a Friday night is not an easy thing.  People think it is easy, but it’s not.  There’s a lot of time and preparation you have to do during the week to get to it”.  This quote by head coach Lance Getsy says it all.  It never is easy.  Both Frazier and Charleroi came into tonight’s contest knowing how losing feels.  In the end, Frazier is still feeling low after a disappointing 45-6 loss against the Cougars.

Frazier starts the game off with the ball.  With the aid of junior running back Kenny Fine and senior fullback Shane Mcgavitt along with two offside calls on the Cougars, the Commodores find themselves on the Charleroi’s 35-yard line.  Then, on a 3rd and 8, sophomore quarterback Brayden Boggs is stripped of the ball and it is recovered by Charleroi’s very own Dominic Pellegrini.

The Cougars set up at their own 32-yard line.  They managed to push down to the Frazier 30-yard line with the likes of senior running back Brayden Mihalcin and senior receiver Legend Davis.  In good field position, senior quarterback Alex Conrad drops back and finds Dom Pellegrini open for a 30-yard touchdown.  The same player to give the ball to the Cougars in the first place would end up scoring first for his team.  The PAT is kicked straight through the uprights by senior kicker Joey Caruso.

The Commodores end up getting the ball back with just over three minutes left to play in the first quarter.  To their misfortune, it was a three-and-out drive and the ball would be punted to the Cougars for the first time of the game.

Charleroi takes over right in the middle of the field.  Mihalcin would put the Cougars on the Frazier 13-yard line.  Conrad then completes a pass to Legend Davis to add on to the score making it 13-0.  Caruso successfully kicks the point after, causing the scoreboard to read 14-0 in Charleroi’s favor.

Frazier is not out of this yet.  The game is far from over.  The first play of the drive, Boggs finds Kenny Fine for a 66-yard touchdown.  The point after was no good, so the score is now 14-6, Charleroi.

To add on to scoring frenzy, senior Evan McGuire ends up putting up some points for the Cougars as he returns the kickoff for a touchdown.  Caruso makes it 21-6.

Frazier ends up going nowhere on their next possession, so they are forced to punt the ball.

Charleroi is determined to keep their foot on the gas pedal as quarterback Alex Conrad weaves his way to a 43-yard Cougar touchdown.  After the complete PAT, it is now 28-6 in favor of the Cougars.

With only 5:35 left in the first half, Frazier took over at their own 30-yard line.  The Commodores could be facing another three-and-out situation if they do not convert on this 3rd and 14.  So Boggs dropped back and found the junior receiver named John Ingram for a 43-yard gain.  Boggs, again, found another man open for a 12-yard gain, thus moving the chains.  The sophomore thought he could convert another third and long as his team was faced with another one.  It would be an incomplete pass.  Frazier decided to go for it on 4th and 13, but unfortunately, that pass falls incomplete.

The Cougars would take over on downs at their own 21-yard line.  To start off the drive positively, Mihalcin 28 yards in three plays.  Conrad then uses that arm of his to three passes in a row.  One to senior Malik Nails and two to Davis.  These efforts put the Cougars in field goal range, so the brought out Caruso with only 57 seconds remaining in the half.  The field goal was good and that would make the score 31-6, Charleroi.

This would be the last notable play of the half.

To start off the second half of play, the Cougars were not as explosive as they were in the previous half as it was a turnover on downs and Frazier takes over at the 50-yard line.

It would not mean much though as the Commodores run for a yard and then miss three passes in a row, turning the ball back over.

Out of the nine plays that were run on the next drive for the Cougars, eight of those were run by Brayden Mihalcin, including the touchdown at the end of the drive.  Once Caruso puts up the point after, the scoreboard would say Charleroi: 37 Frazier: 6.

After the touchback from Charleroi, Frazier takes over 1st and 10 from their own 20 with about 4:44 left in the third quarter.  Making a statement, Brayden Boggs finds fellow sophomore Colton Arison for a 25-yard gain.  Then on 3rd and 14, Boggs throws to sophomore Noah Phillips for a 31-yard reception.  The Commodores made it all the way to the Cougar 24-yard line before an incomplete pass turns the ball over on downs.  This would finish up things in the third quarter.

It is clear to see by now that Mihalcin is favored by the Cougars in the ground game because he dominated the drive and ended up scoring the last touchdown of the game.  Joey Caruso would get the last point of the game.  45-6 Charleroi.

Frazier will be on the road next week as they will play against Brentwood.  The Cougars will get ready to play Carmichaels back home at Myron Pottios Stadium in Charleroi.
